Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX
Watching Bellator and there is a brutal spinning back kick groin shot delivered against a fighter. He recovers enough to continue and within seconds there is an almost identical except worse groin shot delivered. One thing no crowd in the arena means is you can hear a gown MMA fighter cry as a result of getting viciously kicked in the junk twice inside five minutes.

I think Gaethje pulls off the upset tomorrow. I think his leg kicks are key, he's finished guys before with leg kicks. It'll impact Khabib's explosiveness and the effectiveness of his takedowns. He's got the cardio to go 5. But I think he wins by TKO sometime, 3rd or 4th, after Khabib is severely hampered by leg kicks and Gaethje starts teeing off with his heavy hands.

Max Holloway vs Calvin Kattar. Wow one of the best fights I’ve ever seen. Tonight’s version of Max Holloway sends Volkanovski to the bread line. Amazing.

I think Conor beats Dustin again. The matchup is just too favorable in my eyes. Poirier is a slow starter, Conor a fast starter. Poirier is very hittable and likes to stand and bang. Conor's accuracy and precision is 2nd to none. If this goes past two rounds though, Poirier's chance go up dramatically.
In the co-main, I think Chandler loses his UFC debut. The matchup favors Hooker, who is much taller and longer than Chandler, who can snipe and keep range. Hooker has great knees too, so if Chandler goes diving in for a takedown, he could end up like Askren. Hooker also has power in his hands and Chandler's chin is suspect at this point in his career. Hooker meanwhile is durable as fuck, should be able to eat anything Chandler throws.

No matter how this shakes out Charles Oliveira is gonna get the short end of the stick.
If Khabib comes back. Its Khabib vs Chandler.
If Khabib doesn't come back. It's Chandler vs Poirer.
If Conor fights again, it'll be a Diaz rubber match or someone else not named Charles Oliveira. So he won't get that Conor bump.
Charles has 8 straight wins with 7 finishes and he just came off a dominant performance against Tony Ferguson, who himself was going into that fight 13-1 in his last 14 in the UFC.
Charles should be fighting for the title next. But there is no way he will be.

Nah, in the post fight press conference, DP says he's not fighting Chandler next, said Oliveira makes more sense as his next opponent if Khabib is truly done (which I believe is the case)

Yeah man. Even though the Jorge/Askren one looked more impressive, this one was more brutal when you watched the slow motion 360 his head did.

Super stoked for this. Although I wish Mousasi was in there instead of the guy who's name I can't pronounce. Also, putting Rumble and Romero against each other in the first round has been getting some online flack. But it was absolutely the right decision, because this fight NEEDS to happen and can't be left to chance. Especially with Romero being 43.

Dana White in an interview from this week: "I truly believe that Khabib will want to fight Conor again if Conor has the belt"
Conors gonna get that trilogy fight with Dustin next and it will be for the belt. Bank on it.
Charles Oliveira can go piss up a rope I guess.
