Put Lawler out. Didnt see that coming. Woodley has a tendency to go into a shell offensively especially vs pressure strikers but he looked good tonight.

It's one of the most irrelevant title wins in history because once the match up with Wonderboy is made you'll know when Tyron loses that belt.

It's pretty amazing that outside of DJ and Joanna, none of the champs have more than one successful title defense. And DC and Cruz are the only two with one.

I dont know dude. That was a sweet KO that I dont think anyone would have called.
Maybe a TKO in the 3rd after Lawler not respecting the conditioning of Woodley. But a KO in the first? WHOO!

Diaz's suspension over testing positive for marijuana ended Monday. Woodley, the new UFC welterweight champion, called Diaz out following his win on Saturday at UFC 201.

Nick Diaz hasn't won an MMA fight in 5 years. Fuck that. At least GSP went out champ.

I think Woodley is a horrible matchup for GSP. He is huge, is a great wrestler who has solid striking and vicious power.

Vegas has even put out betting odds on GSP/Woodley (with GSP a -150 favorite).

Rizin just released a poster insinuating that Fedor/Cro Cop 2 is happening September 25th.

I don't care how old they are or how bad Fedor looked in his last fight, this has me STOKED.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

How in the hell Alex Caceres got a Main Event spot on a UFC card is a fucking mystery to me. Cub Swanson vs Tatsuya Kawijiri was the second fight of the night and not even on the prelims. Does not compute. I pvred it and just watched the finishes. Pretty lousy card even by UFN standards.

^ While that may excite some fans 3 years is a long layoff. Personally Woodley, Lawler, and Wonderboy Thompson would probably take his head off.

I don't know. its not like GSP stopped training. He obviously kept himself in good shape and hes only 35. I mean look how a couple years off effected a champ like Dominick Cruz, he basically just picked up where he left off. GSP doesn't seem like a guy that would half ass a comeback, or even come back at all if he wasn't in peak form. If a guy like Jake Shields could tie up Woodley for 3 rounds, I think GSP could probably dominate Woodley. Lawler and Wonderboy would be a toss up to me. Unless GSP comes back and is basically post Edgar BJ Penn, I'd think he has a solid shot at beating anyone at 170. Also I think if they fought again GSP would fucking wreck Hendricks.
