Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

I think he will. December isn't THAT far away. Plus we've seen it before when someone gets a title shot then someone gets injured so the challenger eventually takes another fight and loses and the title shot doesn't come around for them again. (Josh Thomson, Dan Henderson)

Then again this is Cowboy Cerrone, so who the fuck knows.

I haven't seen a nose gush like Pitbull's since poor Rich Franklin was in Anderson's clinch.

Man I would have given my first born child to see that fight go to round 3. Amazing main and co main made up for a pretty forgettable undercard.

Better elbows. Jones or Condit. Those were beautiful.

Condit. Jones' elbows caused him his only loss...

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

I'd love to see Hendricks - Condit II as a five rounder for the #1 contender spot.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

Cormier's first title defense will be against Gus.

Rockhold gets next shot at 185

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

This is horse shit. Gus in no way shape or form deserves a title shot after getting pistol whipped and stopped in the 1st round few months ago. Bader deserved the shot over Cormier. But now to give it to Gus over the only guy in the division with a winning streak is just ridiculous.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

Man, sucks to be Ryan Bader right now. Thats some 100% Grade A Bullshit right there. Bader wins 4 straight and even starts promoting the fight with the beef with Cormier before its even announced and he still gets passed over for a guy coming off a devastating loss and is 1-2 in his last 3. wow. Like I said sucks to be Ryan Bader.

Now, as far as the 12 year old fight fan in me, who gets giddy over certain fights, I'd WAY rather see Cormier/Gus. Its a fight I've wanted to see ever since Cormier starting talking the drop to 205.

And unless Bader asks to be let go from his contract, it looks like Rashad Evans is calling him out.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

Gus gets a title fight off of a TKO loss and being 1-2 in his last 3? Poor Bader.

If old man Hendo manages to secure a W. I really hope he retires.

If he doesn't retire, the only people he should be facing:

Rampage, Wandy, Lil Nog, Shogun. And MAYBE Bisping.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

He was on local radio the other day and one thing is for sure, fighters dont wake up before noon
Listening to the interview, he sounded like a guy adamant that he was in no way close to calling it quits.
He almost sounded stubborn about it when asked about retirement as well as his age in a young mans game.
When asked about MMA vs sports like Football and injuries, he stated that in all his years as a fighter, he has only suffered one minor concussion.

I like Hendo and I know he always has a punchers chance, but unless he fights guys he has already fought that cater to his class (veterans), if he goes after younger guys he may very well get hurt. He stated he would like to make a run at the title before calling it quits but not sure how he would fare against a guy like Rockhold let alone someone like Weidman.
This is just an opinion if he stays at 185. If he wants a title run at 205, forget it.

He also wasn't too jazzed about this being a 5 round fight either.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

That was a better card than many PPV of late.
Hendo continues to amaze. It's like he takes all the negative talk and turns them into awesome wins like that.

Mitrione. Dude. What are you thinking. You're winning the fight and pull that junk? I firmly believe he would have got a KO win if not for that stupid move.
Rothwell is a weird dude

I'm guessing Louisiana doesn't have the strongest doping rules and testing procedures so I'm not going to get too excited about Hendo's win

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

That was the best UFC card in at least a year. Same goes for the Brian Ortega/Thiago Tavares fight. Best fight I've seen in a long ass time. It had everything you could ask for out of an MMA fight.

Matt Mitrione is a buffoon and Ben Rothwell should leave the WWE promoting to Conor McGregor, that was as bad as the time Shane Carwin tried to cut a promo.

Hendo couldn't ask for a better win to retire on, but who the fuck knows, maybe he has something left in the tank after all. I don't know.

I worked tonight so I pvred the fights, I'd usually delete right away, but I think I need to watch that card again!

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

From the prelims all the way to the end, that was one of the best fight cards my buddy and I had ever seen. Was fantastic. That is also one main reasons why I very rarely buy ppv events anymore. They are so uneven.
