Since the Patriots are the AFC Champions they will be using the practice facility at the Colts Complex and the Giants will be using the new facility at the University of Indianapolis.

The NFL signed off on both but it does seem like A Tale of Two Facilities...

Well, at least they will be basking in the sunny weather and palm trees of Indy.

The NY hosted SB is going to be even more hilarious, especially if it rains or snows in an open air stadium.

It's not often that Brady has two bad games in a row. Now he gets two weeks to prepare...may be trouble for the Giants.

Pulling for the Pats just because of the Michigan aspect of it, but I would LOVE to see Eli one up Peyton. That would be glorious.

Winter has been anything but typical in central Indiana this year so we'll have to wait and see -- obviously the only palm trees to be found will be of the inflatable variety.

Good luck to both teams - I just hope we get a good game.

Checking the local Indy paper, it seems the main issue with this SB won't be the weather, but rather the cab situation. 150,000 visitors, 700 cabs. Good luck, folks!

So the writers with nothing better to do for a week will have a hard time flagging down cabs? Works for me. I would imagine fans aren't going to spend more than a day or 2 in that city in February. They'll get in and get out.

I'm a big Pats fan, but there is no way in hell I would put any money on NE to win this game.

They're a 10 win team if they had any stiff competition while I think the Giants are a 13 win team if they played the way they're playing now all season.
So if the Giants played as good as they are right now they would win more and if the Pats played better competition they would likely have less wins?!? Hey I'm a Pats fan and have to agree with this logic

I would guess the Pats are favorites because the Giants were 7-7 at one point and nobody should lose the Redskins under any circumstances - although the Pats almost did too ha

I put this as a pick-em game and could see it going either way.

In 2007, I was in a sports bar in Cleveland watching the SB with coworkers. I was half drunk and tired of the Pats, so I cheered for the Giants. Since I'm going to be home and sober this time, no way this is going to happen again.

Die Giants die!

Re: 2011 NFL Playoffs Thread--Super Bowl XLVI, 02/05/2012

This is about as unexciting a Super Bowl matchup as I can remember. At least four years ago I knew that the Giants had a great chance of knocking off the Patriots since they almost did it in the regular season.

This year, since New England isn't undefeated, I just don't care all that much.

Yeah, I'd like to see Belichick and Brady have it handed to them again so that they can pout instead of being smug. But I hate seeing Eli get rewarded for being an arrogant prick around draft time.

So I was thinking... the 49ers were the first to 5 SB's...then the Cowboys got 5. Then the Steelers got 5 and 6, now the Giants have a chance for number 5?

Is that right or am I missing a fiver team?

I'm pretty sure this would be #4 in the off chance they win. Two with Parcells, one previous with Coughlin.

It would be #4 for either team actually.

This is the Giants 5th Superbowl.

1986, 1990, 2001, 2007, 2011

If they win, it will be their 4th SB win. Yes we'd ALL like to forget the Ravens Blowout in Tampa in the 2001 SuperBowl. That game was a yawner.

I know it's the Giants' fifth SB appearance, but when he was talking about the Niners, Cowboys and Steelers, he was clearly referring to SB wins, not appearances. This will be the Patriots' seventh SB appearance.

If it's fine for a playoff game, then it's fine for the SB.

Weather conditions are part of the game.

The Super Bowl has traditionally become a game to be played in the warm weather. The game is almost secondary to the atmosphere and warm weather has traditionally been part of the atmosphere.

I agree that the SB should rotate all over the country, but the NFL wants a big party and having the event in 2 feet of snow is not as much fun for the NFL I guess.

Okay, I remember hearing they're 4-0 (now 5-0) in NFC Championship games and I guess I thought they had won every SB they've been to, a la the 49ers, who are 5-0 in the SB.

You don't have a very long memory...pre-salary cap years we were almost annually treated to a juggernaut versus a lesser team. That's how the Steelers, Niners and Cowboys racked up all those trophies.

Hate the Giants so I'm pulling for the Pats. Hopefully it's an entertaining match up and the Giants don't collapse.

Second year in a row I have to pull for the lesser of two evils. Only problem is I can't decide which team that is.

Not really. The Steelers beat the Cowboys twice in two of the greatest Super Bowls of all time (and if not for Jackie Smith they would likely have split those two games). The Cowboys beat the Dolphins a year before the Dolphins had their perfect season. The Bills were not exactly chopped liver, they just went up against three teams that were better than they were. If not for a missed FG they beat the Giants.

The 49ers barely beat the Bengals one year.

Your theory doesn't exactly hold up.
