What a waste of a fantastic start by Garcia.
I did not want them going back to Texas w/ a tied series and the momentum on their side w/ Lohse up next.

Ouch. That's going to leave a mark.
Cards could have all but wrapped it up tonight...now, not so much.

It may sound like sour grapes, but I can't help but think the Rangers got lucky tonight. Getting beat is going to happen, but when a bloop single, an ill-advised stolen base (it worked, but I don't see how Kinsler stealing in that situation is the smart play) and 2 sacrifice flies does you in, it stings.
Oh well, better to happen now than in a game 7. What an intense series this has been thru 2 games.

I'm still thrilled with the way the Cards are playing. Their offense, while not scoring many runs, has continually put some great at-bats up. Their pitching has made the Rangers dynamic offense look rather ordinary. Game 3 will obviously be huge. Hopefully, the Cards will strike early to take the Texas crowd out of it a bit. St. Louis has scored first in 9 straight games, I believe, and that will be the best thing that can happen to them on Saturday night.

It's baseball.
This kind of stuff happens ALL THE TIME.
Come on... you know this.
Great series...so far though.

What a heartbreaker. The Rangers played extremely well and certainly deserved the win.
I'm not a fan of the move to take Motte out of the game. I know Rhodes is the Hamilton specialist, but I would have walked Hamilton and stuck with Motte to try and get a strike-out and/or double-play ball. That being said, this was the first move by Tony since leaving Garcia in too long in his first start against Milwaukee that has not been golden, so I can live with it.

Please do not tell me if the Rangers win the World Series, you would say they were lucky?

Maybe Pujols should have cut that ball off to keep from
Maybe Motte should have held the runner on better to keep him from

I don't think you can ask for too much more out of these first two games. Two well pitched, well played, tight ballgames that came down to the last out. We get a 9th inning comeback in one of them, and a hometown win in the other.

It wasn't pointed out, but that actually was the result of another questionable decision by Washington. Young makes an easier play if he's not holding Freese on, but Texas was probably mindful of Freese's 2 career stolen bases.

I've got a few friends who follow the Rangers who have indicated they were "fortunate" to win last night. Would that be a more acceptable word? If so, it's interesting to note that "lucky" is a synonym.

No bitterness on my end. Over the course of a long season, you win and lose some games like this. Just stings a bit more in a short series, even moreso in a World Series. Wish today wasn't an off day. This series has been fantastic and I'm ready for game 3.

I'm a Rangers fan and no one around Dallas is saying we were "fortunate" to win last night?
Seriously? STL was up 1 - 0 in the 9th inning. They didn't blow a huge lead or outplay the Rangers in the previous 8 innings. The Rangers just came out, lit their untouchable closer up for some solid hits, stole a serious base, were mindful of where the ball was at all times, had two scarifice flys and went up 2-1. Then Feliz shut the Cards down and the game was over. That's just good baseball.
Saying that the Rangers were fortunate to win is like saying the Cards were fortunate to win game 1.

I knew I'd take my lumps. No doubt about it, Texas took full advantage of their 9th inning opportunity by being super aggressive, and they're a team that's known for that kind of approach.

I can't wait till tomorrow night. I haven't been this excited about a game in a LONG time.

It is a good series. I just find it funny that people say that the Rangers are going to light it up offensively at home but yet the Cardinals bats will just continue the way they are. I hope Lohse keeps it low in the strike zone and Pujols went home early last night to get his golden bat.

St. Louis was fortunate/lucky to win the Wild Card. It doesn't take away from how they played down the stretch, but if the Braves hadn't been awful, the Cards are at home watching this series. One of the games St. Louis won in the last month of the season involved a 2-run 9th inning rally where they scored on a bases loaded walk and a wild pitch. Sure the Cards did some things right in that 9th inning, but I admit they were lucky to win that one.
Last night, although not by a huge margin, St. Louis had more hits, more walks and fewer strikeouts. Texas had 5 singles, of which 2 or 3 were hit sharply. Contrary to your opinion, I don't think you'll find anyone playing for Texas, who will indicate they have lit up anyone on the Cards staff to this point.
My hope for tomorrow night is that someone will make the comment that the Cards were lucky to win Game 3. Won't bother me at all.

Looks like Carpenter could pitch game 4 and a possible game 7. All I ask for is that the offense picks it up a bit for the Cardinals and there is no reason to believe that they can't since the Rangers don't really have any aces in the hole for the next few games.

I watched the game and saw 27 outs recorded. Oh well, I hereby declare that St. Louis was lucky to win Game 1. Feel better?
