Take the good with the bad. The Mets aren't going anywhere this season and with Reyes getting hurt again it just means his price is coming down giving the Mets a better chance to sign him.

Re: MLB Tuesday, August 9, 2011

I'm confused as to the Ginats not having at least one suspension from the fight with the Phils the other day.
Even if the pitcher doesn't get anything shouldn't Whiteside have received at least a game?
Normally the catcher is a "peacemaker" in these things but Whiteside clearly just wanted to have a fight with someone.
He was jumpingup and down like a nut and as soon as he saw Polanco he went low on him and tackled him. I think he was trying to lift him up and drop him onto the field.
Either way I think he did just as much as anyone to escalate the fight as anyone else did including Victorino. Even the pitcher said he expected to get games.

Oh Well there's no rhyme or reason on these suspensions anyway I guess.

Dbacks and Giants are content to limp into the playoffs.

Re: MLB Tuesday, August 9, 2011

I thought Victorino should have received a 5 game suspension (especially for "pushing" the ump out of his way)

And yes, I thought Whiteside should have received a suspension too (I would have preferred a season long ban just because I hate him so much)

In all reality only one of them will actually get to limp into the playoffs.

Re: MLB Tuesday, August 9, 2011

1-1 game, 6th inning, Maicer Izturis up with 2 out and a guy on 2nd.... obviously you have to intentionally walk the dangerous Maicer Izturis. He might single and make it a 2-1 game in the top of the 6th... that would cost the Yankees the game and it would be game over. With a pitcher like AJ Burnett on the mound, who is not prone to the big inning or giving up HR's or extra base hits or wild pitches it's best to put extra men on base.

Well it's obvious what happens next...Next guy walks, next guy singles, followed by a wild pitch... so in trying to prevent 1 run the Angels score 3..... because Girardi was afraid to pitch to Izturis in the top of the 6th inning in a tie game 3 walks + 1 single +1 WP = 3 runs... that is why you don't walk people intentionally (especially with a guy like AJ on the mound)

At what point does Girardi take a step back and realize his micromanaging (especially his addiction to bunts and intentional walks) is not working? The Yankees need to update his contract with a stupidity clause: Prior to the 7th inning it should forbid any intentional walk to a guy not batting 3rd, 4th or 5th and he should not be allowed to call for a sacrfice bunt (unless it's Cervelli batting)

Astros are beating the Dbacks. Again. 4-1..but hey it's early. Snakes could still lose by more.

Dbacks with a much needed victory. After trailing 7-1 they come back and beat those amazing Astros 11-9.

Can't remember the last time, since I moved out West, that a Tigers game played in the east will not be over before I "crash" for the night.

Re: MLB Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Ok, so I stayed up a few more minutes and that kind of loss reminds me that the Tigers will likely blow another chance at winning their division. Walking a guy or hitting a guy with the bases loaded to lose the games make me really hate a pitcher. Make the team beat you, don't give it away.

I hope somehow the D'backs manage to win their division, which is very unlikely, so that I don't have to root between them and my Braves.
