Lincecum scratched. Zito is going instead.

I wonder how the Giants and Cody Ross will be received in The City of Brotherly Called Strike Threes.

Should be a good series.

Sabathia vs Doug Fister?

While I still think the M's streak ends tomorrow (Felix Hernandez vs Phi Hughes in a day game); this seems like a trap game for the Yankees.

Dunn crushed a 2-run homer off of Verlander. PLEASE let this be the start of something for him.

Sabathia perfect through 5 1/3...but now a rain delay.

Also Sabathia has 11 strikeouts on 62 pitches. WTF? Amazing.

Re: MLB Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Not just a perfect game but just absurd dominance.... he's struck out 11 of the first 16 guys (including the last 7 in a row) and the Mariners have managed to get one ball out of the infield. He's gone to 2 balls on just 2 hitters... kind of keeps the ol' pitch count in check!

Rain day better not screw this up, a CG with those kind of numbers would be enough to win a week in my stupid fantasy league.

Not too bad tonight. 3 hits after eight innings. Chase Utley an inside the park homer.
Ziti gave up two long homers.

Perfect game broken up with a 1 out single in the 7th....

Mariner announcers giving the time of the hit as if the M's had just achieved some sort of milestone.

The first domino has fallen!

Jonny Gomes goes from the Reds to the Nationals for two minor leaguers (wish I could do tiny font on my phone.)

Love the Nite Owl.

Heard an amazing stat on the Phillies radio broadcast. Coming into tonight, Worley had 6 straight starts of at least 5 IP and 0 or 1 ER. Last Phillies pitcher to do that was Steve Carlton in 1972.

Re: MLB Tuesday, July 26, 2011

That stat ended tonight but not only did Worley do it but him and Steve Carlton are the only two since 1920 to do it.

Re: MLB Tuesday, July 26, 2011

17 losses and counting (I still say Hughes serving up the BP fastball tomorrow ends the streak)

Mariners combined "offense": 18K's, 1 hit, 2 balls hit out of the infield, 1 run (thanks to 3 consecutive walks and a botched double play ball)

CC after the game: "I was just trying to pitch to contact"

CC has been on a tear his last 7 starts: 5 ER (total), 54.2IP (just a shade under 8 innings per start), 72K (that's an absurd rate of 12K/9IP), 31 hits allowed (just 6 XBH, 25 singles)

Wow, Michael McKenry with a 14 pitch AB in the 14th inning. The Braves have left a ton on base in this game, it's pretty pathetic.

No run scored from both teams since the third inning. It's getting very close to the point where one of these teams runs out of pitchers and has to depend on a position player. I have no idea who would pitch for the Pirates if that happens.
