Twins have a 12 game home-stand against the Central, including Det and Cle, this should go a long way towards determining if they are buyers or sellers.

Cubs have a full year to decide whether they're buyers or sellers

And I certainly hope the Mariners aren't planning to try to make a run. Their recent fail should have removed all doubt whether they can seriously contend this year. I do give them credit for being more competitive than expected and for cutting their losses on the disaster that is Milton Bradley.

1 game back of the division and 5 games on the wild card. Can't complain about where the Yankees are at the "half way point". And despite how good they've been I'm still very worried about the pitching holding up. I am not, however, worried about CC Sabathia. The guy has been an absolute machine this year. Always gotta respect a guy that gives it all in a year where he can get more money.

Mistrial in the Clemens case: http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/67...lares-mistrial

I'm all for throwing the book at that asshole (as I am with Bonds) but do we need to continue to waste money on this shit?

I always wondered why Congress got so involved in the rampant PED use in baseball but is looking the other way with the NFL.

Re: MLB Thursday, July 14, 2011

MLB drops the hammer and suspends David Otiz for a whole 4 games for charging the mound. (Gregg also got 4 games)

You do have to factor in that Ortiz was being yelled at at the time, and reportedly his feelings were hurt about that, so I guess that's mitigating circumstances (he probably feared for the safety of his eardrums at the time, and was merely protecting himself).

To put this in perspective a different Orioles pitcher for a separate incident in a different game, got a 3 game suspension for merely throwing behind Ortiz (not at his head, and not hitting him). So charging the mound and throwing punches warrants just 1 additional game?

What a complete joke.... The Orioles are a bunch of punks for throwing at people and should be suspended but how does a guy who charges the mound and throws punches for getting yelled at get just a 4 game suspension? (Ortiz later said: "I mean, you saw the argument before, and after that you're gonna act like you're my daddy? I ain't gonna take that")

Re: MLB Thursday, July 14, 2011

Brewers were one of the teams on the no-trade list for Francisco Rodriguez. But, his old agent apparently failed to give the Mets the list of teams. Oops!

Re: MLB Thursday, July 14, 2011

Wow... ugly game in Toronto... the Yankees make 5 or 6 errors (but somehow they only got credit for 3) and must have given up 8-10 unearned runs - though officially I think it ended up being 6, after the official scorer converted a dropped pop up into a "double" and a routine groundball to 2nd thrown wide of first base into an "infield single"

And I'm still trying to figure out any scenario where Girardi thinks bringing in Sergio Meat-Tray is a good move (but Girardi HAS to make moves, I think it's in his contract). I can't believe this guy is still in the majors.. the Yankees got a gift when the Brewers gave up a backup OF to get him from the Yankees, but for some reason the Yankees forgot how bad he was and took him back from Milwaukee for cash.

He took out a guy who had pitched 3.1IP of scoreless ball because he apparently though Logan and Meat-Tray was a better option than a guy throwing scoreless ball The 2 both brought their gas cans to the mound and managed to convert a 9-7 game into a 16-7 game.... nicely managed Girardi! (but he did get that key lefty-lefty matchup)
