Series against Boston and the Yankees are playing well. Still don't trust this team to handle the class of the AL like the Red Sox are. I expect the Sox to be tied for first by the end of the week. /reverse jinx

Re: MLB Tuesday, June 7, 2011

Do they keep track of this record? Most consecutive appearances by a releif pitcher allowing at least one run? I can't remember the last time Mike Gonzalez(Orioles) pitched a scoreless inning. Maybe it was during the Clinton Adminstration. Orioles love useless one inning relief pitchers and he takes the cake. He's so bad that they had 2 other lefty specialists(which were just as bad). Orioles thinking is-if you're bad we need more guys that are just as bad. Thats why they have has 13 consecutive losing seasons. If the Orioles were a hockey team and the No.1 goalie sucked-they would have 5 back-up goalies who also sucked.

What are you talking about? He hasn't given up a run since May 27th (pitching 1 inning since that time).

Are you sure that wasn't an exhibition game? LOL If it wasn't -may I suggest that MLB admisitor a drug test. What a waste of money. Him and Markakis added up-equals -zero- productivity. Markakis signed a 66 million dollar contract and he's a single's hitter and he will be lucky if he gets 50 RBI this season. If these guys were on the Yankees or Red Sox-they would be given their unconditional release. With the Orioles-they are given contract extensions. The Orioles still regret releasing Garrett Adkins last season. How else will they find some one who during his half a season stay-had 12 RBI(or something).

Re: MLB Tuesday, June 7, 2011

Papelbon suspended 3 games... But obviously is available to pitch in the NY series as the Red Sox are still trying to figure out when to schedule the suspension, oops, I mean he's appealing it, because obviously he and the Red Sox think the suspension is wrong.

Nothing wrong with this specific example as everyone does it (and every team does this), but I would like to see baseball put something in to address this... maybe if you drop an appeal, MLB decides when to schedule the suspension or tacks on an extra game.

Papelbon of course played the victim card:
"It's me," he said. "You know I don't get away with anything. I've been fined for being three seconds late (between pitches)."

Getting uglier... Lester just nailed Tex in the knee cap with a fastball and he's out of the game and it did not look good.

And Jorge Posada will take over at 1st base.... So the Yankees infield now has Posada and Nunez in it.

40 minute first inning... welcome to Yankees/Red Sox!

Freddy has to drill someone, Lester can't feel comfortable throwing that cutter for the rest of the game.

Re: MLB Tuesday, June 7, 2011

i don't know why the umpires have decided to fuck over the dbacks in consecutive games, but they just got royally hosed. parra made a ridiculous throw from LF to throw out mccutchen at home but he umpired said montero bobbled the ball. replay shows the ball was inside of his glove the entire time. jesus christ.

"King" Felix not looking so royal so far - 5 ER in 2.1 innings pitched, HR's by Quentin and Konerko, 2 RBI triple by Vizquel.

Fantastic outing David Hernandez. Usually you are dependable. Tonight you were shit. Way to give the Pirates the game back even after overcoming all the bullshit calls and bad plays.

I'm shocked, the Braves were (barely) able to beat a rookie pitcher.

Again? I thought he just came back.

I don't know what the Red Sox were smokin' paying him what they did. He was a kickass closer for the White Sox and I appreciate his time here, but he's not what he used to be.

And as Ozzie would say, in the meanwhile, Phil Humber with another great outing. 7.1 pitched, 1 ER.

Man Konerko has sure been great the last season and a half. I think just about everyone had him pegged as being on a decline.

I've always said if he played for the Cubs or on one of the coasts MLB would probably have him as a face of the league.

I think he finally got his thumb healthy, and DH'ing more has helped him stay healthy.
