Re: MLB Friday, May 27, 2011

(thanks as usual for the thread Starman)

I decided that I'm going to like the Brewers today. Greinke hasn't been what you'd expect and Gallardo's numbers are heading in the wrong direction but I thought trading for Shaun Marcum was one of the best moves in the off season. I thought he would put up great numbers and be the second best #3 pitcher on any staff (behind Oswalt) and he's been that good. Toronto fans aren't surprised by this.

On offense you have Ryan Braun and Price Fielder doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing... mashing. I don't know where Prince goes next year but that's going to be a big loss for them.

If Greinke and Gallardo can right the ship and if they can get some bullpen help... this team could be a contender.

Re: MLB Friday, May 27, 2011

Yankees starting a brutal stretch on the West Coast as they catch every team's top 2 starters in each 3 game series. Pretty rare that you will catch the top 2 starters in 3 consecutive 3 game series.

Next 9 games include: Pineda, King Felix, Cahill, Brett Anderson, Haren, Weaver... and the rest aren't scrubs (I think they get Vargas, Gio Gonzalez, Ervin Santana)

Bad news on Gary Carter, his four tumors are apparently malignant.

I know they've had injuries and such, but those home (19-6)/road (8-17) splits are ugly.

Re: MLB Friday, May 27, 2011

Marcum shits his pants in the 7th. Loads the bases with no outs, and then, after a visit from the pitching coach, gives up a granny on the first pitch.

Collision at the plate in the Dbacks/Astros game. Quintero nailed by Roberts. Looks like he slipped up on the bat and got bent backwards. Doesn't look like there's a break or major injury, though. Well, could be a serious injury as they are helping him off the field, but he's not writhing in pain.

You'd think so, but it never seems to work out that way with the Brewers,

Phils win despite a bunch of errors and Oswalt coming out after six and now have the best record as Cleveland has lost three straight.

WTF was Sedar thinking sending Prince. He was out before he was halfway down the line.

Hunter and Bourjos both just touched the ball about 3 times each but made the catch on a routine pop up to end the inning in the 8th.

Damn you Giants for coming back tonight. At least the Dbacks had a huge inning to go ahead and won, though. Putz still light's out.

Any team that needs to break out of a slump need look no further than a series with the Braves.

It's not just you. Saw the 5-0 score flipping through (it wasn't in HD, so I wasn't watching), just after Baker was done. I told the wife that Gardy had blown the game. The only chance they had to hold a 5-run lead was to not go to the bullpen.

You'd think he woulda learned his lesson by now. There is literally not one guy in that pen you can feel good about.

I saw that. I told my Twins fan friend that your pen is worse than ours

That was crazy. Never saw that outside of a movie or joking with friends.

Meanwhile, the Angels are making Swarzak look like Cy Young, hitless through 7 1/3 so far. His last win was two years ago against guess who....

the Angels.

EDIT: Bourjos just broke it up.
