Can a mod join the two ongoing threads about this?

I've been waiting for years for WWE to give him a proper send off, sad that will never happen.

He'll hopefully at least get inducted next year like they did for Mr. Perfect.

they really abused Curt Hennig toward the end of his career making him a jobber. He was in better shape than guys half his age, it was ridiculous.

Ooh no.

RIP Macho Man.

I did like the tribute over at With Leather:

The importance of Savage as a performer can’t be overstated. He was simply one of the greatest and most memorable pro wrestlers in the history of the industry. His career began in 1973 and took him through the two biggest boom periods in pro wrestling popularity, first in the “Rock n’ Wrestling” WWF of the 1980s and then as a part of World Championship Wrestling and the nWo in the 1990s. He was in cartoons, wrestled Peter Parker, held a heavyweight championship wherever he went and participated in the consensus choice for the greatest match of all time against Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat in front of every imaginable wrestling fan at Wrestlemania III.

You can’t just toss a guy like this into a recap paragraph. Savage is a pillar of nearly all of our wrestling memories, be it on Saturday mornings or Monday nights or in pillow form. Slim Jims, neon hats, raspy voices, marriage proposals … they are all indelibly marked by the Macho Man. Heaven saw somebody corpsing and sent for The Man.

Rest in peace, Macho.

So, so sad to hear. It was bad enough when "Elizabeth" left and now The Macho Man. I remember him, Elizabeth and Hulk Hogan teaming up. A..."Ohhhh Yeaaa" for ya Macho Man....thanks for the memories.

I remember actually hating the Mega Powers. And when Macho turned heel again it was gold to me as I couldn't stand Hogan. Sad to see a legend go. RIP Macho Man.

"You've got LUST in your eyes!!"

Good stuff. I too was so happy when he turned on Hogan.

RIP

or build up I hated Macho for "crushing" Steamboat's throat with the ring bell. Even at that age I knew it was scripted but it was one of those moments where you mark out and don't care

R.I.P. *plays Pomp & Circumstance*

I heard about this on the radio, and I couldn't believe it.

The real tragedy here is that Savage had finally gotten past his demons, and let go of the anger and bitterness he had felt toward the business. He had moved on, and from what was said about him, he was genuinely happy and content with his new wife. He was even back in the WWE fold through the WWE All Stars video game.

As for the business catching up to him, I don't think that's the case. He was 58 (9 months older than Hogan), and it's certainly not rare for men that age to have heart problems.

I'm sad because he didn't get his WWE homecoming. Hogan got his, Bret Hart got his. Even The Rock got his. Hell even Nash got a brief one at the Rumble. I'm not saying I wanted to see him in a match, but It would have been nice to see him walk the aisle one more time and deliver and Oooooooohhh Yeah like only he could.

Hopefully Vince does the right thing and inducts him in Miami.

This ruined my day when I heard it. Some great, great childhood memories of Randy. His top rope elbow was only eclipsed (maybe) by Shawn Michaels.

RIP. I remember Macho Man from my youth. That was after I had been introduced to wrestling by "local stars" like Edouard Carpentier, Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon and afterwards, the Rougeau brothers.
