Re: MLB Monday, May 16, 2011

It's amazing how teams get old right in front our eyes. I believe the Yanks are mirroring the Lakers, Spurs and Celtics and MLB is a much longer season too. I only get to see the Yanks on national TV, so I know that Posada is almost done, and Jeter is definitely struggling, but it seems like Rivera is still lights out?

2 games back, pretty much tied for the WC and you're giving up? Granted, I think you are done playing the Twins, so no more freebies on the schedule.

Re: MLB Monday, May 16, 2011

i was kidding... of course im not done with them... but i love to hear people say how early it is..

but in all seriousness... they freaking blow... started off the season with Arod hitting everything and now he cant hit crap... jeter and posada are entitled schmos, our pitching keeps us in the game but then our occasional reliver gives up the break the game apart home run, oh and who can forget swisher...

It's only May. Yankees have a history of starting off slow. I thought this year would buck the trend but it's never a surprise to see them struggling early in the season. Posada might be done but while Jeter isn't in the .300 range right now his play has picked up over the last few weeks. And it's too early to say that it's the old guys dragging the team down. Cano, Tex, Gardner and Swisher aren't hitting either and you expect them to turn it around sooner or later.

I think the offense will be fine. I've seen them hit skids like this plenty of times. The team seems to heat up with the weather.

I think you should panic and have a firesale. I'll trade you the entire Twins team for Cano and A-rod. :P

Done. That way we can bury Pavano in A ball for the rest of his "career". That fucking dickhead.

I'm done with Girardi though.... 2nd or 3rd inning yesterday, guy on 1st, Gardner up.... bunt (which he popped up.... again) The Yankees were leading at the time but Girardi will never let that get in the way of an opportunity to bunt. Of course it's not like Gardner's hitting over .350 the last 3 weeks... oh wait... And if Gardner's doing this on his own Girardi needs to step in and stop the madness - Gardner bunting with a guy on base has become as close to a lock as there is (especially if there are no out)

His fascination with the bullpen means he is now carrying a 13man staff... with apparently both Amaury Sunit and Hector Noesi as long men... so he's basically carrying 2 guys he will only pitch in a blowout or if it's an extra inning marathon and there's noone left... I get calling one of them up, but both?

His bench yesterday (and likely tonight) is Nunez, Posada, Cervelli... assuming he won't use the backup catcher unless he has to, he has one person who can play the field on the bench (and who's not very good defensively)

someone give Curtis Granderson a back rub, it must be hurting him from carrying this offense.

^How does that guy have 13 homers already, oh Yankee stadium right.

Anyway right now would have been a good time put Ryan Franklin in, the Phils can't hit anyone.

Home:6 HR in 83 AB's
Road: 8 HR in 57AB's

My math isn't that good, but the #'s would suggest he has more HR's in fewer AB's away from Yankee stadium.

But hey why let the facts get in the way of a good story? Oh right I forgot it's just easier to just make stuff up rather than actually thinking (or checking) before saying it.

Somehow the Cardinals managed to beat Cliff Lee on the same day that TLR thought it would be brilliant to put Albert at third for the first time in many a moon.

Indians up 17-1 after 5. One of the Royals relievers gave up 14 earned runs . Bet that hasn't happened in a while.

14 earned runs? That's got to be some kind of record.

Re: MLB Monday, May 16, 2011

That would be Vin Mazzaro who gave up 14 er in 2.1 ip today.

Mazzaro's era entering today's game: 4.50. ERA after implosion 22.74.

I'm hoping that Cle scores a few more runs so we get to see a position player from KC pitch.

I believe I heard that it was the 4th time since 1919 that that has happened. Something like that. Either that, or the first time since 1919.

I was at the Yanks-Rays game tonight. That was a mistake. The Cowbells, the DJ Kitty after a HR, the cheerleaders, the corniness is almost too much to take. Nice job Burnett blowing a 4 run lead. At least you gave Sam Fuld his 2nd HR of the season. #1 came off the Pesky pole, so that really doesn't count.

Ha really? I'm going to Tampa to see the Indians Memorial Day weekend... never been to Tropicana Field before.

Mike Scioscia has shit for brains. He thinks Jeff Mathis is a good player, and constantly brings in Fernando Rodney even after he blows game after game.
