Halladay vs Josh Johnson tonight, should be a great pitchers duel! Over/Under for the game 2 hours, and 15 minutes...

I hope that game is being shown somewhere on my TV. Should be hell of a game. I love watching JJ pitch, that guy is a machine.

I can't believe it, but the White Sox are going for their 4th win in a row. Peavy pitches tomorrow. Maybe, just maybe, things are finally starting to turn around.

The Rays are tied with the Yankees for 1st place. Oh the humanity.

If the Rays manage to make the playoffs this season with their shell of a batting order, Joe Maddon deserves manager of the year.

Re: MLB Tuesday, May 10, 2011

That was quite the AAA lineup the Twins ran out there last night, at the end of the game I think I recognized 3 names that were on the field. One of the ESPN announcers said it seemed like Spring Training when they went through who was on the field at the end. Impressive that they took the Red Sox to extras with that lineup and even had a shot or two at winning it.

I realize losing Mauer hurts, but even when he comes back they seem 2-3 bats short of fielding a credible lineup. The catcher they had (can't remember his name), looked like he was going to swing at any pitch not aimed at his head.... it was like Vlad, except without the contact.

Re: MLB Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Half the lineup swings like that. And they also can't bunt or run the bases properly. So worthless.

Peavy better really be ready. Humber's been doing a fine job so I really don't see a reason to rush Peavy back unless he's truly good to go.

I'd like to know if or when Viciedo is coming back. I would think Morel might be a candidate to send down if he doesn't get the hitting together. Realistically, I'd love to see them find a trade for Teahen.

Hail delay in Minnesota. The security guards on the field are wearing batting helmets. (there are some golf ball size chunks falling).

LaRussa not with the Cards tonight due to health issues that have bothered him for weeks. Word is out that he won't be returning to the club anytime soon.

Bomb ass game going on right now between the Dbacks and Giants. Both Lincecum and Kennedy have only given up 3 hits (7 IP for both).

It goes a lot further than just Mauer. Other starters and critical role players missing include Delmon Young, Jim Thome, and Tsuyoshi Nishioka. And of course, Morneau still isn't back to himself after his health issues. So you're talking about 3 of your top 5 hitters out of the lineup completely, and a fourth who is still not recovered from an ordeal. That makes Kubel pretty lonely in that lineup.

It would be nice if they had a bit more organizational depth though. Honestly, half the lineup right now just has no chance.

Yeah great game. Sadly, the Giants will find a way to win though (Diamondback bullpen).

Re: MLB Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Oddly, the Dbacks bullpen has been pretty spectacular. They started off the season rough, but since April 15th, they have the 2nd best bullpen in all of baseball. Something like a 1.76 ERA.

^Wow. I didn't know that. I guess I was basing my assertion on last year's pen.

Re: MLB Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Yeah, it's not too hard to be better than last year, but this year they really have overachieved. But, quite a bit of that success comes from now having a true closer and a true 8th inning guy.
