I'm wondering the if the Phils ultimate plan is to move one of their big 4 pitchers later in the season for some game changing offense.

It wouldn't be THAT shocking if they did that but which one would they trade? I assume Oswalt, isn't he on the last year of his contract anyway?

Concerned for his family's well-being after tornadoes struck near his Mississippi home, right-hander Roy Oswalt has left the Philadelphia Phillies, general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Wednesday.

Amaro said in a statement that the recent tornado activity near Oswalt's home resulted in "several tragic deaths and significant devastation to the area."

"He has chosen to take time to make sure there wasn't significant damage to his home, but more importantly, to make certain that his wife and children are OK.

"It is almost a year to the day that his parents' home was destroyed by a tornado which has heightened his concern about the current situation."

Bummer. Dbacks couldn't sweep the Phils. 2 out of 3 is nothing to sneeze at, though.

Re: MLB Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Went to the Brewers-Reds game today! Was a pretty good game. Yo didn't have his stuff again. Suffered my first lost at Miller Park too! =( Pretty hard to argue when the guy hits a 400 foot homer in the 10th.

Also that Chapman guy is unreal. His offspeed stuff was at 89.

Re: MLB Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Bartolo Colon

His 2 seam fastball just had some absurd tailing action... it was reminiscent of Greg Maddux. He locked up a bunch of White Sox batters who just gave up on the pitch as it drifted back over the plate. He doesn't have the other pitches Maddux had, but that 2 seam fastball is really moving. He was also hitting 96mph in the 8th inning...

Yankees starting pitching against the White Sox:
Burnett 8IP, 1ER
Nova 6.1IP, 1ER
Colon 8IP, 1ER

And they eke 1 win of that; which tells you how good the White Sox pitching also has been this series as well

And the game took 2hours 11min (yes Buehrle was pitching)

Bartolo Colon had some sick movement on his pitches... insane to see him go 8 innings and still throw 96mphs

Re: MLB Wednesday, April 27, 2011

I can't believe the Sox let Fats Colon beat them. That fucking guy pitched like runny shit when he was with them in '09. All of a sudden he goes 8 innings? Were we not feeding him enough? Or was it too much?

Whatever the Yankees are doing with him, keep doing it.

BTW, I thought Garcia was in the rotation - did that change or did he just have a spot start?

And it was a legit 96mph. MLB.com, which doesn't use the stadium gun, also had him at 96.

Unlike the gun in Baltimore which had CC Sabathia at 99mph in the 7th or 8th inning the other day (I think it also had Mo at 95 or 96), or the gun in Cincy which had Chapman at 106mph (it was apparently 'only' ~103)

Phil Hughes, straight up? Heck, you can have old man Posada too...

Bad break on the snow in Minnesota... if it were raining maybe that game gets washed out.

I'd take Posada but only if you take Glass Joe and his bloated salary too. That guy sucks so much balls.

The Cardinals bullpen was on the verge of having me jump off the roof. Tony should have let Lohse finish the game and he would have likely ended it with a CG Shutout but instead we plow through 4 relievers and give the Astros the opportunity to tie it in the end.

You can have him for a king-sized order of deep-fried cheese curds.

Okay, okay, I give. We'll take the small order.
