@ Dbacks win yesterday. Almost gave it up late, but Putz came in and shut the Reds down. Getting a real closer has probably been the best signing for the Dbacks in the past 5 years.

Mo blows his first save of the year last night. Bring on the "He's washed up" speculation.

Nice touch with the "leaders" starman!

I wish I knew enough to make them side by side. I'd like to put the baseball reference game scores too, but they default with a ton of blank space that I can't figure out how to remove.

MLB is taking over operations of the Dodgers as a result of their financial condition.

There's a reason why this is being done: there are rumors that the McCourts are being investigated by both the Internal Revenue Service and California Franchise Tax Board for income tax fraud. Ouch!!

Mike Leake did allegedly pay for the shirts previously ... but he was just trying to exchange them for some ones he actually did like.

'Leake somehow thought that he could affect what is termed an "even exchange" without benefit of a store employee presiding over the transaction.'

hmmm ... ..... verdict.
still an idiot.

That just shows how great a guy he is.... not only did he affect the exchange, but he also decided not to bother the hard working store employees and took care of the security tags himself.

I actually did something similar at a car dealership - I brought in the car I wanted to exchange and found an equal value car. I noticed the keys were in the car and since most of the employees were busy I just got in the car and started to drive off. They stopped me before I got off the lot... apparently they too have some crazy policy where folks can't do their own exchanges. I told them I had planned to go back to care of the titles when they were less busy.

You'd think in this day and age most stores and businesses would just assume customers can take care of their own exchanges.

Pat Burrell, 7 hits, 5 homers and 8 RBI's.

Btw what do you think of the latest trend to call RBI's just "RBI". For example pat Burrell has 7 RBI.

I hate it and it sounds like those who say it are trying to sound like they're smarter then everyone else.

Sounds dumb like Joe Morgan calling a slider a slide piece.

Nice to see the Twins decide to fold it up against all AL east teams. It's part of a grand strategy to convince the team that the Yankee's are nothing to worry about.

Re: MLB Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Fats Colon pitches into the 7th with a manageable pitch count. Nice job. Can't expect that all the time, but it was encouraging at least. Hopefully wirefan is satisfied with Girardi's handling of the pen in the 9th with a 4 run lead. He brings in the AAA call up to try to finish the game and when he gets into trouble only then does he go to Soriano.

Re: MLB Wednesday, April 20, 2011

I think Wire would find a way to be pissed if Girardi brought in Mo with a 3 run lead on three days rest to win game 7 of the World Series.

Re: MLB Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Bartolo Colon: 6.2IP, 5 hits, 2ER, 7K's He faded a bit in the 7th inning but he looked good. Who knows how long that body will hold up, but any win he gets is a bonus.

I'm not sure who was managing tonight but it wasn't Girardi. He brings in Robertson to get the last out in the 7th (when everyone knows Joba is the 7th inning guy), he then lets him get the first 2 out in the 8th in a 3 run game (when everyone knows that Soriano is the 8th inning guy) and then brings in Boone Logan (the lefty specialist) to get the final out of the 8th, against a lefty no less. It's like someone stole his index cards which tells him what to do when.

Damn AL Central tanking more games against the AL East (well except Cleveland who's 6-0 against the AL East)
=The Twins give 3 out of 4 to the Rays and are looking to potentially do the same with Baltimore (who came in on a 7 game losing streak). Thanks for getting the O's on track before they head to NY.
-White Sox keep the Rays hot, who are somehow now .500 and in 2nd place. (Primarily thanks to being 7-2 against the Twins and White Sox and being 2-7 against everyone else)

EDIT - and yes Starman and Vega I do approve of Girardi's bullpen management... apparently CC wasn't available since he's supposed to start Friday

It's pretty simples. It's Runs Batted In. Not Runs Batted In's.

So RBI.

I personally hate it when people call them "ribbies"
