Josh Hamilton out 6-8 weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his arm.

He hurt it trying to tag up on foul popup (near the dugout)... even though there was noone covering home, not exactly the smartest play by Hamilton and the 3rd base coach... the catcher beat him back to home and tagged him out.

it's all hamilton's fault. nobody told him to slide head first, which he did. people continue to slide that way and they will continue to get hurt (furcal broke his finger recently doing a head first slide). i don't blame the 3B coach at all for hamilton's stupidity.

Re: MLB Tuesday, April 12, 2011

I thought the aggressive play fits the Rangers style. It took a perfect play from the Tigers to throw Hamilton out on the plate with the catcher having to catch a throw from behind him on the run and making the tag. I don't like the way Hamilton threw his third base coach under the bus putting all the blame on him. Perhaps just the frustration coming out a bit. And regarding the head first slide, Hamilton had just went into 3rd the very same way.

Hamilton made a very stupid play. What is he, Mr. Glass?

I did the exact same thing in softball a few years ago. It's technically your upper arm that's broken, but it feels like your shoulder. Needless to say that was the last time I tried to slide head first.

At least it's not a torn muscle. You just have to wait the 6 weeks or so for the bone to heal.

Against a lineup that had Felipe Lopez batting cleanup. (And other feared hitters such as Eric Johnson and Kelly Shoppach).

The Rays are now 3-2 after Manny's retirement.

Re: MLB Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Just flat out pathetic and its Francona's fault... Yeah yeah its only April but if he cared more about getting this team ready in the Spring instead of trying to be their friends, they may have actually won a game or 2 more. Its in-fucking-excusable for them to get beat by the Rays like they have last night and tonight in fucking Boston for christsakes.

Disaster.

In regards to Hamilton - how on Earth do you break your upper arm sliding into home. I watched the replay and I am still scratching my head. What a brittle sonofabitch.

Alexei Ramirez with his 2nd HR of the night, a walkoff in the 10th. Santos and Sale looked great out of the pen - there's your dual closers.

You think Lincecum's got a little something against his former teammate Uribe? Hit him again tonight, and he hit him opening day in LA too.

Someone should tell him that just because you look like a child doesn't mean you need to act like one.

Re: MLB Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Dan Haren halted the Tribe's 8-game win streak tonight with a beautiful complete game shutout. I liked what I saw from Fausto Carmona, even in the loss. He went 7.2, and only gave up 2 solo shots. Two mistakes, and the Angels made sure he paid for them.

Rubber match tomorrow.
