The 2011 NCAA Basketball Offseason Thread

Figured I'd start this to keep coaching changes separated from the tournament talk.

Anyway, Seth Davis is reporting OU has fired Jeff Capel.

Wow, I figured Blake would have bought him at least another year or two beyond this.

I'm not sure OU fans really care about hoops anyway.

And one would have to assume NCSU soon.

He's too busy praying that Mike Anderson goes to Arkansas to interview.

Sounds like the Arkansas job might be close to being filled, and that the Minnesota job will then be open

Only when the Sooners are losing, they do not care but when the Sooners are winning, they care

Blake did, after Blake left, Jeff stayed for 2 more years with 2 losing seasons in a row so he deserves to be fired, now I am very interested to see who the Sooners will hire, I want the Sooners winning tradition back to basketball, 2 losing seasons in a row is enough for me!

I know there's already been 2 post-Blake years, I just thought the run with Blake would have bought him at least 3 or 4 seasons. He brought in a couple of knuckleheads that sabatoged the team last year and crippled this year, I thought he'd be given a chance to bring in another recruiting class and see how it went.

I see what you mean but 2 losing seasons in a row after a very long tradition of winning seasons for 25 years will get Jeff fired and it is too bad because Jeff is a very classy guy and I just wish Jeff the best

As an OU fan, I think that Capel needed to go. The team with all his players finished with one of the worst records in OU history, we are still under NCAA investigation from the whole Tiny Gallon incident, and fan apathy was at an all time high.

I bought season tix last year, but passed this year because it is horrible watching them lose home games by 20 to any decent team that comes in. Here's hoping for Billy Gillespie

That will not happen because Texas Tech will hire Billy tomorrow

Sidney Lowe has resigned. I'll miss his sub-par program and bright red blazers. Hopefully they'll bring in someone to continue the Sendek-Lowe mediocrity.

Other firings not mentioned:
Utah - Jim Boylen
Lamar - Steve Roccaforte
Bradley - Jim Les

I think NCSU would love to get back to Sendek-era mediocrity.

FTFY

And this is much more likely with Yow at the helm, rather than that clown that was running the show last time.

Not sure why this would even be a question, but Sean Miller isn't interested in the N.C. State job:

Sounds like GT is going to make a strong push for Anthony Grant. I will quietly weep if that happens as he was my dream choice for Illinois.

K reportedly called the GT AD and pushed him to hire Amaker, but the AD isn't interested. He must have realized K was trying to sabotage the program with that hire.

I believe Emmett Davis is out at Colgate. Long run for having done nothing. He made the title game once I think.
