Re: College Hoops, 2011 Bracket discussion

It's nice to be sitting here on Selection Sunday once again wondering where Arizona will be sent and who they'll be playing, instead of wondering if they'll even get in (or being sure they wouldn't last year).

At the tail end of that bracket, I don't have much complaints, except I really really would've preferred Harvard in over these crappy ACC teams that from FSU through Clemson all look equally crappy to me.

I'm going off rivals.com. I'm cheap. But they don't break out 1-25 (I have to go to another site for that).

Re: College Hoops, 2011 Bracket discussion

If 6 ACC teams make it in, that's criminal. Hell, after 2, it starts getting sketchy. I just looked at FSU's profile (who's been a "lock" for several weeks) and I don't see much difference btwn them and VT or Clemson or BC.

Re: College Hoops, 2011 Bracket discussion

My Bucknell permutations:

vs. Cuse (DC)
vs. Purdue (Chicago)
vs. UNC (Charlotte)
vs. Texas (Tulsa)
vs. Louisville (Tampa)
vs. UK (Denver)
vs. BYU (Denver)
vs. Wisconsin (Tuscon)

Could flip L'Ville in Denver and UK in Tampa possibly.

7 metro stations.

I'm not going this year (well, not the first weekend anyhow. ). I've done it once. Seen them win. I like watching the Madness on TV too much.

Gottleib and I again agree. Notre Dame deserving but most vulnerable.

Re: College Hoops, 2011 Bracket discussion

Perhaps others have voiced their opinion about it, but my thoughts on the new Play-in format. I'm a fan of it but if they are going to do it, until they expand the field anymore it needs to be specifically limited to the at-large teams and not the auto-bids. Considering how much CBS/ESPN have always talked about the "Bubble" teams it seems perfect that it should be the last 4 at-large against the last 4 at-large out. To me it would be the perfect put up or shut up. Instead now it is essentially only the last 3 "bubble teams" that would have been left out and the very last team in, in 2 of the games and what would be the all the 16 seeds facing each other right now in the other 2 games.

I'm with you schloob. The autos should be protected. They really shouldn't have PiGs at all. 64 is the perfect number. It's a sad money grab, which is all the sadder that the NCAA can't wrest control of college football and do the right thing there (where there is so much money sitting out there waiting to be taken).
