Re: Post your MLB allegiance!

I've been a White Sox fan since '83 when I was 6. My school gave free tickets to kids who had perfect attendance, and that's where my love for my team started. Was a full season ticket holder from '05 till 2010 when sadly I had to give them up since we had to make sacrifices when our 3rd kid was born.

October 2005 was one of the most memorable times of my life. Actually got to go to Game 1 and see my team win a game in the world series. It was so surreal.

Re: Post your MLB allegiance!

Cards fan for those who don't know.

My love affair with the game began as a boy when Louisville became the AAA affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. I attended many a game cheering on the Redbirds and guys like Willie McGee, Vince Coleman and Terry Pendleton. It was an easy choice to continue following these guys as they were called up to the big leagues.

Oakland A's. My first game, as a little tyke... game one of the ALCS against the Tigers in 1972. A's went on to win the WS title and threepeat.

Suffice to say that made a huge impact and was a fan for life. I follow them through thick and thin. Plus they have the coolest most distinctive uniform colors in MLB.

Yankees. As I was growing up in Tampa, they were the closest thing to a home team that we had. Don Mattingly is my favorite baseball player ever. Used to go to tons of Tampa Yankees games way back when they played at USF and didn't have their own field like they do now.

Padres. Going to Jack Murphy as a kid and getting there early enough to watch BP and try and snag some autographs. Through a family friend had Roberto Alomar show up at my grandparents annual Christmas Eve party one year, which I thought was cool of him even though he didn't stay long.

Braves. Been a fan since '82 when my first little league team was the Braves. Dale Murphy is my all-time favorite baseball player.

Yankees. Grew up as a Yankees fan with some great memories, and I was 16 when they started their run in the 90's so I feel very spoiled to have seen 5 championships come to them in my lifetime.

Red Sox. Born in Mass and while I've spent 20 of my 24 years alive in MD I've always preferred the Sox to the O's by a hair.

I'd love to see a Boston/Baltimore ALCS though

Re: Post your MLB allegiance!

Growing up in NJ, it's been the Yankees, since 1976. Back when I started to follow baseball, I knew I had a choice between them or the Mets. None of my classmates cared for the Mets, so not wanting to be left out, I decided to become a fan as well.

Reds. Dad grew up in Cincinnati and was a long time Reds fan. He took me to many games growing up, and it was great being a kid and seeing the Big Red Machine play.

O-R-I-O-L-E-S. Grew up in Baltimore. Lot of dark years, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel. There's finally some hope. Looking foward to this year

Reds. Local channel would show some show with Johnny Bench giving instruction and bringing in various players to give tips when i was a kid. I also loved watching Eric Davis play in the late 80's.

Cleveland Indians

Grew up with the team, being from Ohio. Love everything about the Tribe and was fortunate enough to go to every home play-off game in 2007.

Re: Post your MLB allegiance!

Cubs.

Started out as a Reds fan in Cincy...but WGN turned me when I was young (late 80's). I would come home from school, run inside and turn on Harry and Steve Stone. Ryno and Mark Grace were and still are my favorite Cubs of all time. My brother and mom both converted over with me, and we are die hard fans to this day. My dad, the lone Reds fan in the family, secretly despises the Cubs. I don't know why though...it's miserable being a Cubs fan. At least he has hope...and Joey Votto.

Re: Post your MLB allegiance!

Cubs

Started out a White Sox fan in the early 90's. Lost interest in baseball around the strike. Got back into baseball in 98. I'd get home from work and I started catching the finishes of some of the Cubs day games and found myself rooting for them. Also, it was Wood's rookie year and I would tune in to his starts to see what all the buzz was about.

I've always liked the NL over the AL, and I think I probably would have always rooted for the Cubs when i first got into baseball, but I couldn't tolerate listening to Harry Caray. I think 98 was the first year without Caray in the booth full time. Although Chip wasn't much better.
