2011 NFL Playoffs Thread -- Super Bowl XLV -- February 6, 2011

Pittsburgh Steelers versus Green Bay Packers
Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, Texas

Current USA Today odds from Danny Sheridan as of January 24, 2011: Green Bay 2.5 point favorites over Pittsburgh.

Mind you, I still think Pittsburgh wins 28-24 because of the experience of the Steelers and the fact with a two-week break, it give time for players to heal up for the game.

And it will be all those supporters of "brats" versus supporters of the Primanti Brothers steak sandwich.

I'll say it's going to be a low-scoring game. Steelers win by 3. 21-24.

I think experience is going to be a key-factor.

Any word on the Steelers' center? That looked like a very nasty sprain at the least and his backup was far from impressive.

I'm taking Green Bay by a slight margin.

Via Darren Rovell's twitter...Cheapest seat @ Super Bowl is listed for $2,200 (via @FanSnap). Face value on that standing room ticket? $350.

Is anyone here going to this game?

What a Super Bowl experience that will be - standing up for 3.5 hours and watching on the big screen for 2 grand.

Re: 2011 NFL Playoffs Thread -- Super Bowl XLV -- February 6, 2011

At least they will be in the stadium. I heard on the news last week that they were selling tickets to viewing tents near the stadium for $200 a pop, and they were counting it towards the total gate number for the game.

PS I'm pulling for the pack, but

Steelers 31
Packers 20

Because there's nothing like 10 days of 24 hour a day manufactured hype and stories to bring clarity to a prediction.

Ever since they moved the Pro Bowl to the week before the SB, the team who's conference has lost it has gone on to win the big game. So, I'm waiting for that outcome.

Re: 2011 NFL Playoffs Thread -- Super Bowl XLV -- February 6, 2011

again from Darren Rovell's twitter...Folks @StubHub say the average Super Bowl ticket so far has gone for $3,678. 1 man paid $73K for a 15-seat catered suite.

Now I know you American's are crazy about football and everything but what the hell? No average fan can afford this. It must be all corporations buying up tickets. And for 73K I hope lobster and caviar are his appetizers for that price. Holy hell.

Seeing how well the Steelers ran the ball yesterday, I'd have to give them the edge in this game. I'll be rooting for the Packers though.

I sure hope the "redesign the conference trophies" idea never extends to the Lombardi.

The Packers will be the "home" team for the Super Bowl and thus have their choice of jerseys. I almost expect they'll pick their away unis after three road playoff wins in a row.
