Re: The Official Boxing Thread

That Joshua vs Parker fight sucked. Glad it was not on pay per view. The intros which took 20 minutes were more exciting than the fight.

Wilder vs Ortiz was a lot more exciting.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

Canelo withdraws from the rematch and fight is cancelled. Accuses GGG of being scared to fight him. I call bullshit as GGG beat his ass in the first fight.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

Fuuuuuuuuck.

That Fury/Wilder fight was one of the most amazing fights I've ever seen. I have no earthly idea how Fury got up in the 12th. He was out COLD. EVERYONE (including me) thought it was over. It was like someone gave him a shot of adrenaline directly into his heart Pulp Fiction style. He just rose up like a zombie. Even the rounds that didn't have a lot of action were interesting. The way Fury just slowly picked Wilder apart, and then started to really pick up steam in the last 4 rounds with his jab and combinations, only to have Wilder clean his clock twice. Amazing fight. I thought Fury was the clear winner. How ANYONE could score that fight 115-111 for Wilder blows my mind. I have to agree with Paulie's off the cuff assessment after the fight. But I'm not too bummed because it was an amazing fight. Looking forward to the rematch. I loved how both guys chirped AJ after the fight. It feels like it'll be awhile before Joshua sees either of these guys in a boxing ring. Anyhow, its fights like this that make me want to be more of a boxing fan than I've been in the past few years.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

The heavyweight division has been fantastic since the Klitsch boys hung it up to be honest, it was boring for a years with their dominance. I can't wait for AJ vs whoever, I had wanted it vs Wilder, but if Fury can continue to bring it, bring it on!

Yeah, anybody familiar with or subscribe to the DAZN network? Apparently that's the only way to watch the Joshua-Ruiz fight.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

Wonder if there's any truth to this.

https://www.badlefthook.com/2019/6/3...-ruiz-jr-fight

Reports have just been surfacing that Anthony Joshua may have taken some heavy punishment even before he stepped into the ring to face Andy Ruiz Jr. on Saturday night. WBN is specifically confirming that Joey Dawejko (19-7-4, 11 KOs), who served as a sparring partner for Joshua in Miami, brutally knocked out the champion during a sparring session leading into the bout.

Some of you probably noticed that Joshua was sporting visible wounds to his face during fight week. Well, that was supposedly courtesy of Dawejko. Some suggest that Joshua getting KO’d in sparring affected him mentally going into to the fight, although Joshua himself didn’t admit as much, saying that his training camp was fine. But his father, Robert Joshua, apparently wanted his son pulled from the June 1st card before it took place.

Those wishes were obviously not met, and I can only deduce that Eddie Hearn had at least something to do with that. So if the reports are true, it sort of makes sense why Joshua’s father immediately went after Hearn once he saw him get knocked out again, this time by Andy Ruiz under the bright lights. Robert Joshua could be seen confronting Hearn during Ruiz’s post-fight interview, with his son forced to intervene.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

I think Joshua was suppose to fight another guy and Ruiz was the last minute replacement and he probably assumed he was a jabroni he could easily beat.

Looking carefully at the fight some punches did seem to make great contact. He got hit with a hard one. Not sure though why he ejected himself like that out of the ring. Either it's fixed and overhyped or he's just dumb clumsy.

Russian boxer Maxim Dadashev has died from injuries he sustained during a fight on Friday night, according to his trainer, Buddy McGirt. Dadashev was 28. Dadashev was placed in a medically induced coma after his loss to Subriel Matias in an IBF junior welterweight title eliminator bout. Dadashev underwent surgery at UM Prince George’s Hospital Center, Maryland, for bleeding on the brain. On Saturday, doctors at the hospital said the fighter had suffered severe brain damage and his death was confirmed on Tuesday.

Only FOX would still have that Manny vs Thurman fight on ppv

Sucks you can't watch the replay on HBO or Showtime

They lost a fan with that move.

Boxer Patrick Day is in critical condition after a 10th round knockout

Boxer Patrick Day is in critical condition after suffering a knockout during his fight with Charles Conwell Saturday night in Chicago.
According to a statement from Day's promoter, Lou DiBella, the 27-year-old Super Welterweight boxer experienced a traumatic brain injury as a result of the 10th-round knockout. He was rushed to Northwestern Memorial hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
"As of Sunday evening, Patrick is in a coma caused by the injury and is in extremely critical condition. On behalf of Patrick's team, we appreciate the outpouring of support, prayers, and offers of assistance from all corners of the boxing community," DiBella said.
Conwell, a 2016 Olympics boxer, told boxing film company ifTV that he hopes Day is okay and asked his supporters on Twitter to "Keep [Patrick Day] in your prayers!! #prayforpatrickday."

Conwell was in control of the fight in Wintrust Arena from the beginning, according to ESPN. After the 10th round blows, Day appears to be down for several minutes as a medical team rushed in to assess his injuries. Eventually he was taken out of the ring on a stretcher.

Day was the New York Daily News Golden Gloves champion in 2012 and has won the WBC Continental Americas Super Welterweight Title and the IBF Inter-Continental Super Welterweight Title.
Day's current record stands at 17-4-1, with six knockouts.

Truly devastating. I hope he can recuperate from this damage.
