Re: The Official Boxing Thread

I hate Floyd, but my dislike for Pacquiao is not far behind, specially after bullshit like this:

Quote:
Manny Pacquiao Knew He Would Lose To Floyd Mayweather Thanks To Divine Intervention
By Adam Caparell
Manny Pacquiao knew he wasn't going to beat Floyd Mayweather at May's mega-match because "the Lord" informed him well in advance.

Appearing on ANC's "Headstart" in his native Philippines, the Pacman revealed that ahead of his bout with Mayweather he dreamt he would not be victorious.

Speaking predominately in Tagalog, Pacquiao said "one month before the fight" he dreamt he "lost the decision" and that he was thankful God "had revealed" the outcome beforehand.

"I smiled because I already saw what would happen even before," Pacquiao said.

Maybe he was smiling because he knew how much money he was going to make. Losing a 12-round unanimous decision, Pacquiao reportedly cleared over $100 million from the fight.

The 37-year-old said he still planned to fight again, telling the program another bout was in the works for "next year." But Pacquiao, who will run for a seat in the Philippines senate, wouldn't say who it would come against or whether it would be his last fight.

Would like to, don't have the channel. Fury stop whining about the gloves yet?

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

Watched this at 5p live since it was in Germany, what a snoozefest. Didn't even really care that Klitsch lost. Very boring fight.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

As a casual boxing fan that watches mainly due to MMA spill over, I've been interested in 3 fights in the last year. Pac/Floyd, Canelo/Cotto and Fury/Klitschko.

Canelo/Cotto I had to miss, and Klitschko/Fury and Floyd/Pac were AWFUL. They were like daggers through the heart of boxing.

The only fight right now I'm dying to see is Canelo/Golovkin

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

I was so disappointed with this fight. I went to YouTube to watch the first Gatti/Ward fight. Holy crap that was an amazing fight. Can't wait to watch the other two.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

Kovalev killed Pascal tonight. Freddie Roach had to stop the fight in the 8th, but in reality, the fight was over in the 5th. After the fight, Kovalev started talking trash to Adonis Stevenson and they started to act like a WWE event. So that will be the next fight, which is going to be pretty interesting as Stevenson is the linear champ.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

If Deontay Wilder the real deal and get people interested in the heavyweight division again?

Chris Arreola is a fighter? That guy looked like he walked off the street and not in shape or fit to fight.

Former champ Aaron Pryor dies at age 60.

What a fight with Arguello in the Orange Bowl.

RIP.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

The entrance with Golovkin at the end in the Canelo fight was the dumbest shit I ever seen. It was straight out of a WWE match. Building hype for a future fight.

Word is that Bob Arum is taking his fighters to ESPN beginning with Pacquiao against Jeff Horn (yes you can say "who") in a new deal. Arum isn't pleased that HBO isn't giving him dates so his fighters can fight more often.

Also tonight is the rematch between Andre Ward and Kovalev on ppv

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

First time in forever that I watch a full match and this is what happens? Perhaps the fight was closer than I thought, but clearly at least to me Pac won that fight.

This fight hurt boxing more than it helped, definitely not what they were hoping for.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

Hope Guerrero retires, he took a beating last night.

anyways, i had that Pacquiao fight way closer than most. i think i had it a draw but still a win for Pac because of a 10-8 round. one of those cards was scandalous as fuck though

Not all that surprising, but Dr. Steelhammer retires.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

Lormachenko fights tonight on ESPN. Read the plan for the Top Rank ESPN series is give the big names some exposure so when they feel the time is right for a PPV, casual fans know who they are

Was that a retirement speech or a corporate sales pitch.
