And I take that back. Not only did Matt benefit from a good chin, but he also had a helluva job done with his skin (Brits have had a LONG history of endlessly bleeding from cuts, but a masterful job was done in the corner) But as much praise goes to Hatton, the same should go for Ponce De Leon, who gave an effort far more than Golden Boy's judges would have expected.

And you would think by now, given the state of boxing's ever-decreasing unpopularity lately, that a fighter does not have to be undefeated in order to move on to a mega-bucks PPV event.

Here we go again!

http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/haye...-germany-77535
WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has agreed terms to fight IBF/WBO/IBO champion Wladimir Klitschko on either June 25 or July 2 at a venue in Germany. The consensus top two heavyweights in the world finally struck a deal and signed contracts on Friday evening, setting the wheels in motion on the biggest boxing event of 2011. After years of negotiating and posturing, Haye and Klitschko are now set to officially collide in the most important heavyweight showdown for nearly a decade and, in doing so, will unify four of the recognised world heavyweight belts.

I didn't know about Yuri Foreman vs. Pawel Wolak on the Cotto/Yorga undercard. Hell, that should be the main event. But I'm still sticking with the HBO show this saturday night.

(Watching HBO) Main event's about to start.

Pretty good come-from-behind KO victory for fight #1!

Just heard that Wolak easily dominated Foreman across country. Thought that would've been more competitive.

Great victory for Martinez.....But it could've actually been better if the commentators noticed the urgency Martinez was in because of that cut Sergei gave him. Can't believe they never noticed that!

Lots of pretty good knockout action in fights lately. The way it oughta be!

Dang, are Cotto and Yorga still fighting? Already checked out 2 different bulletin sites for updates and don't see nothing.

BTW, never knew that there was an MGM Grand at an Indian Casino!

We got BOOTAY on Showtime tonight! (Poor guy. I'm gonna be spending the rest of his career calling him that) Don't know if there's an undercard bout before that.

BTW, David Haye confirmed himself on FNF that him & Vlad are set to go.....But I'm still skeptical as hell.

Anyone watching Vitali Klitschko vs Odlanier Solis, live from Germany on EpixHD? The undercard bout is actually starting right now (4pm CT).

I had Bute by KO in 9, I was off one round.

He should be fighting Kessler next.

Gamboa on tomorrow night on HBO. Solis (The opponent) seems to have pretty good credentials. Two losses. One was to Manny (Forgivable) and a decision loss that could have gone either way. But I'm gonna play it safe and say that speed wins for Gamboa.

Fightnews:

Famed manager/trainer/boxing commentator Gil Clancy passed away early this morning. He was 88.

Clancy began training young amateurs at the PAL boxing gym in Queens, New York and eventually rose to prominence as one of boxing’s great boxing trainers and managers. During his career Clancy worked with Ralph “Tiger” Jones, Rodrigo Valdes, Juan LaPorte, Johnny Persol, Jorge Ahumada, Harold Weston, Tom Bethea, Jerry Quarry, Gerry Cooney, Oscar De La Hoya and Hall of Famers Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman and Ken Buchanan. However, he is best known for his 20-year association with legendary Hall of Famer Emile Griffith, whom Clancy and Howie Albert guided to the welterweight and middleweight crowns. He was twice named Manager of the Year. From 1978 – 1981, Clancy was matchmaker for Madison Square Garden Boxing. He was also an award winning boxing analyst on MSG Network, CBS and HBO in the 1980s and 90s.

“Gil Clancy was one of boxing’s truly great minds,” said International Boxing Hall of Fame Executive Director Edward Brophy. “As a trainer and manager he was held in the highest regard by his peers.”
Knew him best for his CBS/HBO commentaries. Always seemed like a great guy.

Big upset tonight with Lemieux & Rubio. Could it possibly continue tomorrow?

Still watching ShoBox right now. 1st fight was good (Another undefeated fighter, Willie Nelson!, lost) Main event's a dud.
