Did anyone tell Juan Uribe that the Dodgers are horrible?

Could be three inductees this year. Blyleven and Alomar, plus I can't see Bagwell not getting in.

Money is money.

I would have liked him to stay, but after what I saw what they were paying Huff (and the want to keep Ross), I had a gut feeling Uribe wasn't going to be around.

True. I guess when you have 2 world series rings already, it doesn't really matter who you play for.

I feel I should be a little more excited about this.

We'll see how things roll when the season starts.

Cards trade Blake Hawksworth to Dodgers for Ryan Theriot. Theriot is a pretty limited player but the Cards seem like a good fit for him.

I'm not sure what the Cards plans are for Theriot. At shortstop, he's a more consistent offensive player than Brendan Ryan, but can't match Ryan's defense. If they put him at 2nd, I'd consider him a step below Schumaker on offense and an upgrade with the glove. For a team that has talked about upgrading at their middle infield spots this offseason, this move doesn't accomplish much if you ask me.

Just my opinion, but I don't think Theriot should be a starter for a contending team. Yes, he started on some talented Cubs teams, but he's better suited to a utility role.

I know a lot is being said out there....but I heard a report regarding Jeter that his agent said something along the lines like "we are using the NY money scale" or something like that. When I heard it I took it to mean that yea, they are asking more than they should get, but everyone gets more in NY and so should Jeter.

Wish they would send a message. And sorry, as much as I even like Jeter, he might be the one to send a message to.

It got rid of Hawks who always found a way to suck when he was needed.

Greinke is a great pitcher, but NY seems like an awful place for him.

Re: MLB 2010-11 Offseason & Hot Stove Thread

Looks like the Giants offered Uribe a last minute deal, matching the 3-Year, $21 Million Dollar contract offered by the Dodgers.

Uribe declined....yikes. Looks like he might have gotten his ego bruised that the deal wasn't done right away.

I'm already getting ready for the Boo-ribe chants at AT&T Park this coming season.

Don't Greinke have the Yankees in his no trade clause? Last time I read something that he absolutely hate to be a Yankee.

Why haven't the Yankees signed Cliff Lee yet?

Re: MLB 2010-11 Offseason & Hot Stove Thread

Looks like the Cards are talking as if Theriot is the starting shortstop now and that Brendan Ryan is "available" in trade talks with others. Ryan is a terrific defensive shortstop but there's constantly been talk that he's butted heads with LaRussa and others (recall the game last year where Carpenter got upset with him and pulled him into the tunnel between innings). Hopefully if they talk up his defense enough, maybe another team will offer something of value and allow the Cards to plug another hole. I hear the Yankees might have an opening at shortstop.

Sounding like Dunn to the White Sox is almost a done deal and they are close to re-signing Konerko as well.

lol....That Jeter is asking for more than he KNOWS he should get, but asking for it anyway since it is NY who seems to never run out of money.

And that NY might be better off letting him go and signing Cliff Lee + another ace pitcher. And that if NY is trying to be somewhat reasonable with money (which I don't know if they are or not), Jeter would be a good person to send a message on and let go if he keeps asking for more than anyone else would offer.

Dunn reported as 4 for $54 million: http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/ml...ory?id=5875860

I knew the rumors of Konerko to the Dbacks were ridiculous.
