Anyone remember the Aaron Rodgers slide down to 24??? I'm sure all the pundits said the same thing in their mock drafts ...

I was also going to compare this to the Brady Quinn slide, but now I'm thinking that Brady didn't fall far enough

I don't think Rodgers was projected to go as high as Clausen though (but I could be wrong).

Aaron was considered as the possible first overall in the 2005 NFL Draft. SF went with Alex Smith instead - and Mr. Smith has not exactly been setting the world on fire.

Most of the teams drafting now have QBs. The only teams in the bottom 15 of the first round that could use a QB are Arizona and Minnesota, and Minnesota hasn't picked yet. Trades are obviously far less likely in our draft than in real life, so it isn't really surprising that Clausen has fallen this far once he fell past a few of the teams in the early teens.

In AZ, we need to wait at least one more year before they draft a QBOF. They drafted one in Leinart and they aren't sure if he is their guy. They will know after this year.

I nominate Bruce Campbell, T, Maryland for Dallas.

They need a S and on OT. With the three top safeties gone, Dallas drafting an OT is basically a lock. I think they'd be stunned to see Campbell still available. The other possibility would be Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers.

I nominate Anthony Davis T Rutgers. Campbell's too raw and too much potential and has bad game film. Morgan Burnett S Georgia Tech (gaining some 1st round buzz) would be second choice.

I second Anthony Davis T from Rutgers...

So thats 2 for Davis
And 1 for Campbell

Ok I guess I'm picking for the Cowboys then.

At #27, the Dallas Cowboys select OT Charles Brown from SC.

With the release of 12 year veteran Flozell Adams, it was obvious that the Cowboys needed help at left tackle. Doug Free did fine replacing Mark Colombo at right tackle and remains the most likely candidate for the left tackle position next year but how effective he will be remains to be seen. And Cowboys fans remember what happened when Flo went down against the Vikes and Free then got destroyed by Jared Allen.

At 6'5", 295 lbs, Charles Brown first got noticed by scouts protecting the blind side of Mark Sanchez. A former tight end, he's quick, athetic, has long arms and his technique is very sound. He did extremely well against the variety of speed rushers he faced in college. He won the Pacific-10 Morris Trophy for offensive linemen, which is a considerable honor because it is determined by votes from defensive linemen in the conference. He will need to bulk up and work on his upper body strength but his tall lanky frame allows for it. He showed up at the combine weighing 303 pounds which is already an improvement.

Plus, when I ran that pick by Jerry Jones he said: "Charles Brown?, Great! I love that Snoopy character!".

Oops, was that too late.

Campbell is too raw.

Davis: Missing Pro Day, history of suspensions, did baddly in interviews, questionable desire and demeanor. No tanks.

So do we just wipe out the Davis pick and give Brown to the Cowboys? Brown would be a good contrast to the maulers on the Cowboys OL. I still think its likely that they trade up though.

No problem. I've been ready since 3:00 but I was waiting for a PM response from Gmal to see if he'd heard from calculon or not before I posted. And you guys posted your pick(s) while I was typing all that crap.

Re: 2010 DVDTalk NFL Draft (where you become the teams GM)

Ok so there was a little confusion going on. I did give eXcentris the rights to pick for Dallas. We went to the 3 vote rule since Calculon didn't chime in by 3. The 3 vote rule was for OT Anthony Davis. eX picked OT Charles Brown. We are going to go with Charles Brown as the official pick. San Diego picked Matthews so there's no conflict. Id rather rather have an official Talker making a pick then the 3 vote rule. Plus eX did some research and posted a picture etc. So the official pick for the Dallas Cowboys is OT CHARLES BROWN.

Re: 2010 DVDTalk NFL Draft (where you become the teams GM)

with the 29th overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the New York Jets stayed local and select: Devin McCourty, CB, Rutgers

Trying to add more depth to an already fearless tandem of Darelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, expect to see McCourty all over the field in the Jets' secondary in 2010 as well. Including Nickel packages, both safety positions and return specialist where he excel there as well.

Re: 2010 DVDTalk NFL Draft (where you become the teams GM)

Wow thats a shock. I thought the Jets would look to add an explosive reciever (like Tate or Benn) or a solid blocking TE (Gronkowski). The Jets have Cromartie and Revis. But as mentioned, adding McCourty adds depth at an already strong position. And Cromartie has what one year left on his contract so he might not pan out. MCourty's return game is an added plus as well. I dont know why but I was thinking McCourty was gonna somehow slip to the 3RD round. Lol.

Ive been very interested to see who Minnesota was going to pick.

The Minnesota Vikings (Trevor) are on the clock:

The Minnesota Vikings (Trevor) are on the clock:
They added Santonio Holmes yesterday so that kinda takes WR out of the question. Maybe they would have considered a NT since Kris Jenkins has been getting older and has injury problems.

There should be a run on CB and WR in Round 2 imo. Maybe they should taken an edge rusher?

Screw it. I don't really want him, but no way the Minnesota Vikings would pass him up here. No images at work.
