I'm a Knicks fan too and between Miller and Ewing not dunking the ball in 95, or at least done something more aggresive than a finger roll, is one of many.

The '88 NCAA championship game wherein OU lost to Kansas after having beaten them twice that season.
Losing to Florida and Tebow in the 2008 championship game. Had a chance to take an good early lead, but turnovers killed them.
Both teams just played too tight.

I think that game actually took place in 1984. Yeah and that one hurt too.

Pujols homer off of Lidge in the 2005 NLCS. I know the Astros ended up winning the series, but that home run changed everything for the World Series.

No fan of any team can beat the devastating losses that Vikings fan have had to put up with for the past 40 years, it's not even remotely close.
4 Super Bowl losses
5 NFC Championship game losses, at least two of them cruelly painful
and then their best ever team losing in the Divisional playoffs on the Hail Mary/offensive pass interference non-call
What doesn't kill you just makes you stronger, and Vikings fans are the strongest things on the planet.

The other one's not that old but Seahawks losing in the superbowl to Pittsburgh and their ref teammates.

I know, but it was the way they lost to SF which made it back to back gut-wrench losses, so I had to bring it up. Plus, they would have gotten Atlanta, who I think they could have beaten, then who knows? It's not like the Vikings were unbeatable as I happily recall.

2001 World Series. Mo throws the ball into the outfield? WTF? Think he made another error that inning too. Then the game winning bloop over a drawn in infield. 2001 hurts more than 2004.
Mentioning the Cubs that year with Bartman, I've never seen a team just compeletely fall apart they way they did. It was every player. I was rooting for them that year and I agree, when Wood hit that home run it got my hopes up.

Re: Your favorite teams loss that still bothers you?

Look here little boy I definitely don't need you tell me what teams I should root for and why I should root for them. Furthermore I am a fan of all sports. I don't pretend to be a fan of one sport and act like a nerd about it like you do.
See that's the thing you haven't grasped and probably never will is that you don't have to pick your favorite teams based on what area you live in. That is stupidest dumbest I've ever heard. Since when or what rule was made where you have to root for a team based on what city or area you were born in. You can and should be a fan of any team you want. I choose to be a fan of those teams at an early age. I have been a diehard fan of all of those teams since the 1980's and will always be a diehard fan of those teams until the day I die. Learn the true meaning of a sports fan and not what your meaning of a sports fan is in your own little shallow world. It is really a shame that I have to sit here and explain something like this but it is necessary in your case.
And to make matters even worse for yourself you didn't even make a list of your own in this topic. You probably root for(** in RedDog nerd voice**)all Washington DC area, affiliated teams.

Syracuse's loss on Thursday is going to be near the top of my list for a long while.

Of course it's Miami vs. Ohio State. 1 blind ref away from back-to-back perfection and 6 National Titles. I still get visibly upset whenever someone brings that game up in real life

Chiefs/Colts - 1996 Divisional Playoffs - Chiefs come in with the best record in the league and as heavy Super Bowl favorites. Then Lin Elliot misses not one, but three makeable field goals and the Colts win 10-7. I still can't think about that without getting angry and cursing.

Red Wings Game 7 last year
Pistons 2005 Game 5 (Sheed leaves Horry wide open)
Michigan 2004 Elite Eight lost to Arkansas (Jalen Rose misses breakaway lay-up that would have tied it up late in the game)

Bothers me is relative...
Football - Superbowl 36
NCAA - Missouri vs. UCLA (the Tyus Edney game..it doesn't help that I get to see that replay every fucking year. At least it was early in the tournament)
Baseball - while game 6 of the 85 World Series will always be there, for a more recent game I'll go with game four of the 2005 NLCS. It's like every subsequent moment was designed just to piss me off more and more. Actually this is the game that made me decide to stop taking sports so seriously.

2002 NFC Championship Game
Everything seemed to point to an Eagles victory:
- Eagles clobbered Tampa Bay in the regular season.
- Tampa Bay had never won in cold weather.
- Last game at the Vet.
- McNabb's 2nd game back from injury. He looked rusty in opening playoff victory over Atlanta but made a nice pass to ice that game.
Eagles jump out to a quick 7 - 0 lead over the Bucs within the first minute. The fans go crazy. However, because they are going against the wind in the first period, Andy Reid decides to play things conservatively despite having great field position throughout the opening period. Tampa Bay methodically comes back, takes the lead and the stunned Eagles never recover. Tampa Bay goes on to win the Superbowl against a mismatched Oakland team that the Eagles probably would have destroyed.
2000 NHL Eastern Conference Finals
Flyers blow a 3 games to 1 series lead over the NJ Devils and lose Game 7 in Philly on a late goal. Eric Lindros was crushed by a Scott Stevens hit in the first period that effectively ended his career in Philly.
