Getting to 18 or more major wins now seems possible again.

That was a crazy final round. It felt like any of maybe 15 golfers could end up winning it.

Congrats to Tiger on coming out on top and his 15th Major.

Must have gone back to a winning diet of waitresses and strippers.

So that was where my pro dreams went wrong.

Some day when I have grandsons I need to tell them not to neglect the waitresses.

While I have never been a personal fan of Tiger (he is tough to root for because he is such an asshole on the course), I will always appreciate greatness. I was rooting for him yesterday because he is the Michael Jordan of the era of Golf that I watched (I never saw Jack Nicklaus in his prime), and he was making history. People say that was on par with Jack's 1986 Masters win at 46 years old as he shot to the top that day too over a great field (Nick Price, Greg Norman, Tom Kite, etc).

I watched both as they happened and I would say Jack's win was more compelling than Tiger's yesterday. I'm not trying to undersell what Tiger did, but Nicklaus virtually came out of retirement to shoot a 6 under 30 over the last nine holes, completing possibly the greatest back nine come from behinds in golf history (including eagle-birdie-birdie on 15 through 17). Frankly I don't think it's really that close.

But neither could have touched 1998 had Nicklaus pulled it off. He had a put to get within one of the lead with two holes remaining on Sunday. It didn't happen, but 58 year old Jack Nicklaus did finish ahead of the defending champion, some kid named Tiger Woods.

I do remember 1998 as those were still the days when the Masters wouldn't start on TV until the back 9 so you had no idea (Pre-Internet) of what was going on with the leaderboard until 3:00 that Sunday. I vividly remember the start of the telecast and them showing Nicklaus on the leaderboard and my brother and I were going crazy that he may pull off another one (my brother remembered watching 1986 Masters).

I do have to say that I'm confused about everyone's approach (but Tiger) to #12 and how they all went for the pin? Faldo even said that Nicklaus would mention that the smart play is to shoot for the middle of the green, get your par, and get the HECK out of there. Yet 4 out of 5 guys shoot for the pin and into the drink? None of them were down so it wasn't like that had to make up those strokes? Was it the Tiger effect, or did they just have a brain cramp? I remember Spieth did the same thing a few years ago and he derailed after that. #12 is such a great hole because it can create that type of drama.

Wisconsin man's bet on Tiger won him more than $1.2 million

  • A Wisconsin man won more than $1.2 million after betting on Tiger Woods winning the Masters.
  • James Adducci, who claims he never placed a sports bet before, risked $85,000 on the wager.
  • Adducci said he felt Woods would win because the golf champion's children were watching.
