Re: MLB Monday May 18, 2009

Yanks have won 5 straight and are 7-2 in their last 9. Finally playing some good baseball, even if the last 3 wins have been walkoffs. Gotta have some luck throughout the year.

Re: MLB Monday May 18, 2009

The Pat Burrell-Raul Ibanez move.

Pat Burrell
.250, 1 HR, 17 RBI

Raul Ibanez
.357, 13 HR, 35 RBI

We love ya Pat but I think the Phils made a wise move here. At least so far.
RAAAA-UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUL!!!

Re: MLB Monday May 18, 2009

Twins didn't need Raul Ibanez cause we are so deep in the Outfield, all offseason we kept hearing it's a "good problem to have" because we can't decide which 3 to go with.

Our 4 combined in the OF: .263, 5 HR

It's too bad that Carlson blew the save for Richmond today but this year's Blue Jays never give up and I'm glad that they were able to pull out the win in the 8th inning.

Whew... Perkins does not look long for this game. Six out of the first seven batters have hits and the only out was hit to the warning track.

The Rays dumped Delmon Young on the Twins. That was a pretty bad trade for the Twins considering how Young/Harris and Garza/Bartlett have performed. I don't deny that Young has a world of talent, but he has a 10 cent head from the way he acted in the Rays' system.

Pettitte isn't exactly blowing any doors off either. I just hope he makes it out of the 5th inning and can qualify for a win.

Maybe Peddy is at the game.

Yeah they need a retractable roof don't you think? And the summer rainy season has only just begun.

Yeah, it's not looking good so far. Though Garza was a head case with the Twins and I think they pretty much had to deal him. I think the Bartlett/Harris swap isn't that bad, but Gardy won't give Harris or Young a real shot here anyway, for whatever reason.

at least these games that were postponed won't have to be made up since the Dbacks won't need them in the standings.

Twins are providing a nice comeback to allow the Yanks another walk off win.

You Twins fans are defeatists! What happened to the "we're due" theory?
Morneau is on fire... at what point do you re-evaluate the ability to get him out inside?

Veras is in, I see a 3-1 count coming...

EDIT - my bad 3-0! Why not bring in Ramirez, who actually can throw strikes when you have runners on base?

I'm a defeatist against the Yanks for sure. Fricken Gardy threw a fit yesterday because his batters swung when they weren't in the right count. Whaddya know, Veras is throwing balls, the bases are juiced...and Gomez hacks away like a dumbass. Gardy will blame him of course saying "durrrr, I guess I shoulda told him not to swing on it..durrrrrrr....."

Morneau and Mauer are studs, the rest can be summed up by "Cuddyer is the leader of the team in the clubhouse."

Edited to say, Span is nice, Kubel is ok, and I think Crede will (is) come(ing) around.

I can almost understand hacking at a first pitch fastball with the bases loaded and following a walk AND a visit from the pitching coach - you can almost guarantee you are getting a fastball and one that is intended for the strike zone. That said Veras with 12 walks in 16IP... bases loaded, you almost have to take at least one strike... I do feel for you...

And not quite the 0-2 pitch to Tex that you want to throw... did they serve drinks on that flight?

That AB by Punto sums up why the Twins haven't won a post season series in forever. He is "battling" really well, but can't actually do shit.

Yeah, a number of guys should be swinging on that, but not Gomez, he does not see the ball well at all, so even a perfect ball for him still requires luck. (not that him taking the pitch would have probably helped much).

The fact that the Cards appear to be headed to a 3-game sweep at the hands of the Brewers, is made even more painful by the fact that former Cards Jeff Suppan and Braden Looper have thrown shutout ball against them.
