I was real happy for Hamilton, as it was nice to see a humble athlete who actually really appreciated the fan support for him. Then you have guys like A-Rod, who are the biggest douchebag athletes, who didn't want to take part in the HR Derby cause he may have ruined his swing. Hey A-Rod, you and Bonds can sit atop the All-Time HR list when your careers are done and show off the zero World Series Rings you both have!

Funny how most classy people that get booed in enemy stadiums usually just laugh it off....

My fav of the night was Phillips (I think it was him) saying something to the effect of "WOW! Who needs steroids?!" after someone hit a home run to the upper deck in left.

Not at all. But there were Mets fans there.

Followed by an awkward silence. He's also the one that pointed out how small McGwire was in his rookie year compared to his later years.

I love it cause Joe Morgan has been mum about this since day one, cause he boys with Bonds and all the other cheaters from that era. What annoys me about Joe Morgan is he was one of those guys who put Pete Rose through the ringer about gambling, which Rose did deserve, but when the Bonds Steroid controversy came up, especially when Bonds would play on Sunday night games, he wouldn't say a word. It just goes to show that they all knew what was going on and nobody had the guts to say anything except....Canseco.

Here is a great statistical approach to analyzing the fabled home run derby curse. Anybody versed in correlation studies and linear regression will see that there is no evidence over the years to show that HR Derby participants suffer in the 2nd half compared to non HR derby participants. In fact, the plots show that HR Derby participants actually have fared better in keeping their second halves consistent with their first halves.

^ I don't have access to that site at work but I'll take your word for it. Even if there is no physical reason to drop down because of the HRD there certainly is a mental reason. If A-Rod think he'll perform poorly because of the HRD then he will. Remember what Yoggi said... half the game is 90% mental... or was it 90% of the game is half mental? Either way we know how A-Rod is the definition of a mental midget. I would rather have a confident A-Rod hit 25 home runs after the break than a mentally unstable A-Rod bat .150 over the next 3 weeks.
