Fantasy All-Time Draft, Any Interest?

I had this idea as a fun way to pass more time before the NFL camps get under way.

Basically, same draft order as finish. But instead of picking COLLEGE talent, you pick any RETIRED (living or dead) player to ever have donned a uniform. The "catch" is that your team has its current roster.

So for example, Kansas City probably wishes Ryan dropped to them. Not to worry Kansas City, you can pick Dan Marino! Your player choice need NOT have played on the pro team he's drafted to (as per my example above).

My understanding is that we're NOT trying to see who can build the best all-star team, but rather who can improve on the already-existing rosters in the best manner possible.
Please post in the thread what team you'll control if you are interested.

Well, using the latest scientific developments, our message board draft will determine what players will undergo extensive genetic reversing to make them virtual equivalents of their younger selfs, and they will re-enter training camps for their respective teams and we'll get to see how these players perform in today's NFL.

Since the Vikes are taken, I can fill in for whichever, if any, team is left after fans grab their own.

cool... so are we taking their injury history into account? So a guy like Bo Jackson, would he still be injured early in his career?

I really don't see anyone drafting for position here... the whole first round is going to be running backs, QBs, and wide receivers, and maybe some HOF defensive players I'd think.

A smart GM would definitely make that call. But remember, you still have your roster. If you pick Joe Montana and you have Peyton Manning, what sense will that make, you won't be improving your team.

True, I guess my point is that the Colts GM would most likely still take a top-of-the-line back. I guess there could be some surprises, where someone takes a dominant offensive lineman or something, but probably not in the first few rounds.

I'm a glutton for punishment. I'll take the Bengals.

Can I go ahead and take Ki-Jana Carter or David Klingler now, or do I have to wait?
