Oakland Raiders. D-line, WR and TE were all considerations here. TE the lesser of the three because Miller is still young and needs some more time to mesh with whomever his QB will be. Walker is a great #1 if he can stay healthy, but Curry and company aren't the answer at #2. D-line is also a huge consideration, with Sapp gone. Russell needs playmakers though, so I lean more towards WR. I took Alworth over him for the Cowboys, but I can't help it here....

with the 36th pick in the All-Time Draft, the Oakland Raiders select Don Hutson, WR, Alabama.

Absolutely the correct pick, sir!

On my board, WR was Oakland's #1 need at this point, Hutson was the #1 WR available, and two of the next three teams to pick (KC and SF) need a WR as well. Perfect fit, perfect player, at the perfect time. Kudos!

(edited to add):

And don't forget that Hutson also played CB... Oakland can use help in the secondary. While the help is more strongly needed at S, having a great WR that can play both ways and assist at CB only makes the secondary better. Another plus!

If the Cincitimore Ravengals picks come up tonight, they'll have to wait until late tomorrow morning. I have an early telecon that'll keep me away from my 'puter until 11am or so.

Don't fret, once I return I know who I'll be picking.... won't take me but a few minutes to pull the trigger.

Hmmm.... it's 11 hours later, I'm ready to make the 8 & 9 picks, but we're still at 5. I guess the Chiefs are so giddy about getting Joe Montana that they've forgotten that they're on the clock.

Okay, well, let's do that "group pick" thing. Here's my list of 4 players:

OT - Forrest Gregg
WR - Raymond Berry
PK - Lou Groza
OT - Gene Upshaw

Next poster, please either eliminate one of these guys, or ADD one guy and eliminate two. When we're down to two, the next poster picks. And of course, if DAVEWADDING checks in before the group pick is made, he can trump this and just pick someone of his own choosing.

OP updated. Next on the clock.

37. Kansas City (4-12) - DAVEWADDING #2

previous pick: Joe Montana.

I think line help is in order for KC.

FYI:

I'm going to be on vacation from tomorrow til the 24th. If my picks come up while I'm gone (and I'll be occasionally checking the internets, so give me a few hours), position-wise, for Carolina, I'd look for a QB or LB (lean towards QB). If the Eagles come up, I'd look S or OL.

Shit! Sorry! Forgot I had KC as well. But KC defintely needs help on the offensive line. So the KC Cheifs select Forrest Gregg OT.

with the 38th overall selection of the fantasy draft, the New York Jets select:

Mike Haynes, CB out of Arizona State

I don't supposed any receiving corp would be scared of the current Jet starting tandem of Darrelle Revis and Justin Miller at CB. Haynes comes in to strenthen a weak secondary and at 6'2 has a better shot at shutting down Randy Moss (our main foe at WR) then the other shorter corners.

For a team that employs the 3-4, the Niners generated little to no pass rush off the edge last season. So I'm going with a significant upgrade at outside linebacker, one of the best pass rushing linebackers to ever play the game...

With the 39th pick, the San Francisco 49ers select: Andre Tippett, OLB, Iowa.

Don't have time to get cute or do the in-depth analysis.... I've got a 50 minute drive to make a dinner date with my wife in 60.

Baltimore took a DT in R1 and need either a CB or O-Line help. The Ravens are goin' old school and select former Colt lineman Jim Parker, OG, from The Ohio State University.

If you don't know who he is, shame on you. Here's his wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Par...an_football%29

The Stripes are DELIGHTED with the way the last 10 picks went, because they locked in on their pick a long, long time ago and fretted that they might have to trade up to get him. But none of you bubbas sniffed it out and started snapping up DE/DTs (like everyone at Madison Square Garden did a couple of weeks ago).

So, finally.... FINALLY, the Cincinnati Bengals, with the 41st overall pick, select Bob Lilly, DT, from Texas Christian.
