First in the West!

It's funny how New Orleans loses two games and go from 1st in the West to 5th. Crazy.

Looking at ESPN's standings, they have them behind San Antonio despite the same record. Spurs beat them last night, so they're up in the season series 2-1.

I think I get it. I wasn't counting Utah which has a worse record than NO but is a division leader.

Got two technicals complaining about a non-foul called when he got stripped of the ball under the basket.

Looks like they didn't need him too much, 111-91 the final, 8 wins in a row and a full game up on the Suns now. Plus the longest road winning streak in almost a decade.

Whatever the game was more than over when he got ejected. Lakers looking good and have plenty of easy games ahead of them for the next week or so.

Yeah, they were already up by 30 when he got ejected, so he probably didn't care and decided to just vent.

Losing a game or two in the Western Conference could make the difference. The West playoff race has indeed gone wild.

Lakers are now ranked #1 in ESPN and NBA.com polls. Nice! Luckily, outside of Phoenix lately their schedule hasn't been too tough, even on the road. Perfect time sine Gasol has been able to work in to the offense with ease, and Bynum isn't missing a whole lot of big games.

Gasol's arrival really seems to have energized both Kobe and Lamar.

Absolutely. I mean Kobe is energized ever since they started winning games, but with Gasol he has a smile from ear-to-ear and he is looking to pass even more-so than before. No one can say the dude isn't passing the ball and being a playmaker this year. He has shown this the last few years, but this year especially (and rightfully so...he has guys who can make plays).

Lamar is the obvious one here who has been rejuvenated. I think that most importantly ALL the pressure is off him now and he can play with a clearer head and in the mindset of his game (driving to the hoop / cutting, rebounding, making great passes). Also he is much happier himself knowing that he is a part of this team (and wasn't actually TRADED for Gasol) and knows that this is the best chance he'll ever have in the playoffs. It's amazing what winning and confidence will do, but Lamar is by far playing his best basketball of his Laker career. Great to see considering how much crap he got from me and all Laker fans.

Seriously, I can't take it anymore. I need to see how this team looks with Bynum...

Now, now! Patience!

Let's not bring him back too soon. This is a marathon not a sprint!

No doubt, I don't want Bynum back too soon but it's killing me

It's nice to be able to bring him back slowly and still have us winning tons of games.

I want them to work Bynum slowly back into the starting lineup. Maybe have him play 15-20 minutes a game until the playoffs start. The team has gelled with Gasol, so there is no need IMO to make the dramatic switch and have Bynum back in and Gasol to the 4 spot right now.

Enjoy your two easy wins against us this week. We had approx. 10% chance of winning a game with Roy in, but now he's out with a sprain.

The Lakers always seem to have trouble in Portland - no matter who's playing. I don't think it will be a cake walk.

I think the Lakers will have trouble tonight for some reason. I see a victory but a close one. Lakers 104 Blazers 98 is what I am calling.

I would've given the Blazers a chance with Roy playing, absolutely. Now with him out, not so sure. I see it being a tough win in Portland, always been a hostile environment for the Lakers.

Lakers 112 Portland 94 tonight

Lakers 103 Portland 97 Friday

The only good thing about tonight is that our most athletic person on the team (Outlaw) is finally getting a start. He's averaging 23 ppg off the bench since the break.

Outlaw looks good early, the Lakers look sluggish to start. The Blazers had a fast break and only one Laker ran back. Early traveling by Luke, stuff like that.

Hopefully they can pick it up, only down 5.

2 fouls on Odom. Lakers shooting 36% and down by 9 early.

8-0 run by the Blazers.

2 on Kobe now, Blazers up by 12.

I dunno, they look awful early. Blazers look really good.
