The only change I'd like to see is Sykora back on the same PP unit with Malkin & Malone. Sid should have a seperate unit with Hossa (when he returns) and Staal or Scary Gary when he comes back. That Malkin Malone Sykora line was pure magic, no reason to screw with it now. The team has enough talent to have two #1 lines and two #1 PP units.

You can see that Sid's still a little rusty after that long lay-off. Yesterday he looked like he's just about back.

Another great game from Malkin. The way he's raised his game the second half of the season has been remarkable.

And Syky has quietly been kickin some serious butt too. He's got about 31-32 points in the last 30 games. He needs to be back on that PP unit with Geno & Bugsy.

I still laugh that since Crosby's return, he is still putting up points playing with Talbot and Dupuis. Two career third liners and he's making them look good.

Anyone else catch the end of Sharks/Wild Sunday? Now that was a crazy finish. First the Wild score with 40 seconds left to force overtime. Then Gaborik skates into the San Jose zone in the final minute of overtime and makes what looks to be a beautiful goal, but Marleau literally bats it out of the air within inches of going in. Amazing play - the game was over.

Then of course in the shootout, you get the Bouchard spin-o-rama, but Marleau seals it for SJ anyway. One of the most exciting endings to a hockey game I've seen in awhile.

I did. I had a feeling something bad was going to happen after Torrey Mitchell's miss on the empty net near the end of the game. Not happy about that, but glad we got the win in the shootout. Marleau's save in OT was awesome! I didn't really see it until the replay just how close it was to being a goal when he swatted it out of the air.

9 wins in a row!

Sabres took an asswhooping from the Pens tonight 7-3. They really had their number this year.

Pronger is a star player in a big non-hockey market that Bettman is desperately trying to sell the game to. He'll get no more than 5 games, but more than likely will get less - and may even get nothing at all.

Chris Simon got 30 games for basically the same thing. Gotta love the double-standards.

He plays like a retard sometimes. Has throughout his career. And usually at the worst possible moment.

Weak. They set the standard for a multiple offender and Colin Campbell and Gary Bettman screw the pooch yet once again.

http://network.nationalpost.com/np/b...n-reports.aspx

We were all over the map on this one, Campbell said in a conference call Wednesday. At first you see the incident and you wonder whats the player doing? Its not a hockey play gone bad, like a player trying to throw a hit and the other player turning away or turning into it.

It was something totally away from the play, it had nothing to do with the play or the game of hockey.

Its one thing to suspend players for discipline for the act, but its also supposed to be a deterrent, Campbell said

"While it was fortunate there was no serious injury to Mr. Ruutu as a result of Simon's action, the deliberate act of kicking an opponent with an exposed skate blade, especially where the opponent is in a vulnerable position, is and always has been a repugnant and totally unacceptable act in the game of hockey.

"In addition, while the act itself was extremely dangerous, the fact that this is the eighth incident requiring the imposition of supplementary discipline on Simon compelled me to impose a very severe penalty in this case.

"When a player repeatedly evidences the lack of ability to control his actions and conducts himself in total disregard of the rules, as well the health and safety of other players on the ice, each subsequent incident is deserving of enhanced scrutiny and more severe discipline. This response serves not only the purpose of imposing appropriate punishment for the player involved, but also the purpose of deterring the player and all other players from engaging in similar conduct in the future hopefully creating a safer long-term work environment for all NHL players."

That's Colin Campbell's stance on Chris Simon, wonder why it wasn't the same for Chris Pronger.

Chris Pronger's career suspensions:
June 3, 2007: with Anaheim - one playoff game, blow to the head (Ottawa's Dean McAmmond).
May 15, 2007: with Anaheim - one playoff game, blow to the head (Detroit's Tomas Holmstrom).
March 14, 2004: with St. Louis - one game, kicking (Calgary's Ville Nieminen)
April 3, 2002: with St. Louis - two games, cross-check (Dallas's Brenden Morrow).
Oct. 11, 2000: with St. Louis - one game, leaving bench for altercation (Los Angeles's Kelly Buchberger).
Dec. 17, 1998: with St. Louis - four games, high stick (Phoenix's Jeremy Roenick).
Oct. 29, 1995: with St. Louis - four games, slashing (Washington's Pat Peake)

He gets to play in the playoffs... pretty convenient.

Bettman's desperation of trying to sell the game (for the millionth time) in the US isn't too predictable.

What a joke.

Sharks 11-game winning streak came to an end yesterday evening. Oh well, it had to end some time. We're still in good shape to win the Pacific and still gained a point on Detroit for the number 1 seed in the West.
