2006 Fantasy Football Week 10 Advice Thread

How long have people been playing FF? I joined our league in its second year back in about 1990, when Jim Kelly's no-huddle, Warren Moon's run-and-shoot, and rambling Randall Cunningham ruled the roost, and one owner made a first-round reach for a rookie named Emmitt Smith. I think five of our 10 owners have been around all that time...

Well, I'm 6-3 with the best record in my league. This might be the week I finally play Marion Barber because of tough matchups for my other backs. Here's what I have:

QB Carson Palmer vs San Diego
RB Rudi Johnson vs San Diego
RB Marion Barber vs Arizona
WR TJ Housh vs San Diego
WR Reggie Wayne vs Buffalo
FLEX Roy Williams vs San Fran
TE Antonio Gates vs Cincy

BENCH CHOICES:
RB Edge vs Dallas
RB Ahman Green vs Minnesota
RB Deuce McAllister vs Pittsburgh

I have 3 Chargers and 3 Bengals starting, and they play each other. I have San Diego's defense. I'm wondering if I should get another one to start since they are facing each other.

Jon Kitna or Chad Pennington at QB?
Then my RB situation is between C Taylor, F Taylor, T Henry or T Jones
WR I already have P Burress and A Boldin starting but have to choose a third between E Kennison, M Furrey or C Henry

Kitna is a no brainer in my opinion. I'd go with the 2 Taylors at RB. Henry and TJ both face very good D's. The WR question is tough, pretty much a tossup there.

Tell me if I'm crazy. I'm 8-1 in my league, there are 5 guys tied for second with 5-4 records, and with 2 wins in the next 4 games I have the playoffs and a first round bye week locked up. Shouldn't be too hard as 2 of the teams I'm playing are fairly weak.

Should I look forward to the match-ups of Weeks 15 and 16 and load up my team with anyone on the wire that might have a big game that weekend? Here's a look at my squad: (I play 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D)

QB:
M. Hasselbeck
P. Rivers
D. Huard

RB:
S. Jackson
B. Westbrook
T. Jones

WR:
S. Smith
J. Walker
M. Colston
K. Johnson
D. Mason

TE:
M. Colston
T. Gonzalez

K:
M. Stover
J. Kasay

D:
Chicago

Ditch the extra kicker. And you might be able to get something for one of your TE's. You would probably get more for Colston.

I am having problems selecting a wide receiver, my WRs always seem to under perform. I have to choose two from the following.

Donte Stallworth
Reggie Wayne
Andre Johnson
Chad Johnson

also I am trying to decide whether to keep Eli manning in or put in Damon Huard for QB

here's my Wide Receiver dilema this week. I have these 4 on my roster and can start 2 per week...

Terrell Owens
Mushin Muhammed
Marques Colston
Plaxico Buress

Colston's been on my bench all season but he's been on fire lately! I know Buress is questionable for week 10...

My league includes 1 point per reception.

thanks for any help!

2 of my 3 running backs need to start. You guys decide which two:

Mike Bell @ PIT
Thomas Jones @ NYG
Corey Dillon vs. NYJ

Furthermore, 2 of my TE/WR's need to start. One is obvious (Steve Smith). You guys pick the other:

Alge Crumpler vs CLE
Plaxico Burress vs CHI
Jerricho Cotchery @ NE

I think it's awesome that all 3 of my RB's are platooners.

L Washington(NYJ) vs NE or
A Thomas(BUF) vs IND

I had McGahee and got lucky enough to grab Thomas. Leaning toward thomas because of shoddy IND run def, but afraid they will be so far behind that they will need to pass.

Why has Colston been on your bench all season? He has been on fire the entire season and is the fantasy revelation this year. He has better numbers than all your other receivers.

What are Eli owners doing this week? With this news and the opponent (especially coming off their 1st loss), I am considering sitting Eli. My option is Garrard vs HOU. But Eli seems to have big games against tougher competition.

I think I'd go with Garrard. Oaklands pass defense is surprisingly decent and A. Smith hasn't done much lately.

Two RB slots, three choices:

Ronnie Brown vs. Kansas City
Corey Dillon vs. New York Jets
Willie Parker vs. New Orleans

Just picked up Tony Romo as I continue to spot-start QBs in my one league.

Romo at Arizona (219 pass ypg allowed, 7 TDs) or
Rivers at Cincy (215 pass ypg, 10 TDs)?

I think Willie Parker is pretty much an every-week guy. I sat him last week in favor of A. Green and got burned so I learned my lesson.

The Jets run D is pretty bad, so I think Dillon is your other play.

Pedagogue,
I think it will be difficult to bench Plummer especially after what he did to Pittsburgh last week. Even though he hasn't thrown for much yardage, he as developed a nice rapport with Walker and should be counted for some TDs this week.

I think that Garrard is too erratic despite the 3 TDs effort last week and doesn't throw as much as Leftwich. I still think that Jacksonville rely more on the run when he's at QB.

And in regards to Smith, after a decent start, he has come down to the level of play of last year.

Then again after the advise I gave you last week, you can just ignore my comments...

That's really tough but I will go with Romo even without Glenn. Rivers has been playing second fiddle to LT with the exception of that San Francisco game and I don't think that's going to change against Cinci this weekend.

taa: Thanks!

Lorenzol:

I have Garrard in there right now....but Plummer has given me 2 good weeks in a row, and i benched him for one of them. I guess I'll just leave it up to a game time decision....blah.

I have started Carson Palmer all year, but this is a week where I'm considering benching him.

Palmer vs San Diego or Brees vs Pittsburgh?

Brees is on fire and the Bengals offense hasn't been rolling this year.

Rudi Johnson is not starting today because of disciplinary reasons but he will play in the first half. I have him starting, but I'm not sure if I will leave him in if he's only going to play basically a half.

There's talk in Denver that Mike Bell might be inactive against Oakland so if you have him starting, be sure to check as he will be a gametime decision. Tatum Bell will still be limited with his turf toe.
