2006 Fantasy Football Week 9 Advice Thread

Here's my quandry this week, hope someone can offer a little inside info...

Seattle's DEF playing at home against Oakland

or

Minny's DEF playing in San Francisco

I'm leaning towards SEA but Minny is ranked much higher after half a season.

All it took was to see how lost SF was out there against Chicago (a team Arizona ruled for 50 minutes) to convince me to play any D against them here on out.

Good point. Although Seattle still gets to play San Francisco twice, Arizona again and Oakland this week.

They may be the better pickup only for their future games.

I would agree with that thinking.

Not a bad decision to have to make. In a toss-up, I'd go with Eli.

Considering how piss poor Houston's defense has been lately, I'd go with Manning. Grossman's horrible game two weeks ago has me down on him. I'd like to see what he does against a better D in Miami before taking him over Eli. But you are definitely in a good position at QB.

With Steve Smith off I need to start either Gabriel vs. Indy or Bryant vs. Minn.

Well the safe move is definitely to go with Bryant, but if you're willing to play hunches...Gabriel was definitely Brady's main man early last night, and I expect Brady to throw 40 or so passes again next week against Indy. However, keep your eye on the weather. If it's really windy, snowy, 20 degrees, whatever in Boston...definitely start Bryant.

Tom Brady is my number 1 QB and I picked up Brad Johnson due to his favorable matchups in the second half of the season. Do I play Johnson @ the 49er's or do I just play Brady after his game this past week. Brady is at home against the Colts.

Stick with Brady. BJ has thrown very few TDs this year (maybe 4 total)

My second RB is Ronnie Brown and he has to play Chicago so I am trying to decide if I should bench him and add an extra WR instead. the wide recievers I can put in are Reggie Wayne and Andre Johnson

Reggie Wayne he kicked ass last week but I dont know if he will have good numbers against the Pats

Andre Johnson he is usually good for double digit points

I might still play Brown but I am afraid of what the Bears D will do to Miami.

I don't see how you can say "definitely" Bryant. The guy started strong and then dropped off the planet for a month and has just now been picking it back up. He also fumbled last week.

I think the pats are trying to work Gabriel as their main guy at WR. I'd put him in there, if only because Brady is just a ton better than Smith.

I'm leaning toward Gabriel at this point. I am well aware of Bryant's drop off since I started him a couple of those weeks when he did nothing. The Niners offense has been pure shit lately.

I need to decide whether to put in Ronnie Brown or Reggie Wayne this week. Brown is usually worth more points but against the Bears D I am not sure how he will do. Reggie did great last week but the rest of the season he hasnt done much.

Tony Romo at Washington

Or

John Kitna home vs. Atlanta?

Both are in the high 20s in passing D rankings....Kitna has been gold so far, but Romo looked far better than I ever expected him to and Washington sucks. ATL and DET should be a shootout though. (and yes this is a serious question - I drafted Delhomme (Bye), Plummer (Cut) and Simms (Cut) )

I'd go with Kitna, look at what Pitt. did to them a couple games ago.

Tough call. It seems like Romo is only tossing longer yardage TDs, and Parcells is minimizing the chances by running in the red zone with III and JJ. I think your gut is right, despite the INTs, Kitna is putting the ball in the EZ.

Brady will not throw 40 passes again this week unless they are down big, Indy has one of the worst rushing defenses in the league. Expect plenty of carries for Dillon/Maroney.

Need to start 2 at RB:

C Taylor @SF
F Taylor vs Ten
T Jones vs Mia
T Henry vs Jax

Need to start 2 at WR as well
C Chambers @ Chi
M Furrey vs ATL
or
C Henry @ BAL

Well, I think you start Chester since he's been playing so well and the SF D has not. Your other one is a tossup.

At WR, you start the #1 guy, so that's Chambers. Again, between the other two, tossup. I'd lean towards Furrey since he seems to be getting looks, not that Henry isn't, but he does have two solid WRs in front of him, plus Rudi.

Pick 1
Portis vs Dallas
Julius Jones vs Washington
Deuce McAllister vs Tampa Bay

Pick 1
Santana Moss vs Dallas (if he plays)
Michael Jenkins vs Detroit (keep in mind I'm playing Vick at QB)

This is the second week in a row I'm in rough shape due to injuries/byes. This week Boldin and Stallworth are on bye and DJax and Santana Moss are hurt. I just picked up Jenkins in case Moss couldn't go, but it looks like I might have to pick up somebody else if DJax can't go. God I hate injuries.

Trade Proposal: Frank Gore (SF) for Jamal Lewis (BAL). Which would you rather have?

Miami is done, right now no one is really worth starting from that team. Chambers hasn't even surpassed 60 yards in a game this season.

Frank Gore - 631 yards 5.3 YPC, Jamal Lewis - 461 yards 3.6YPC, I think the choice is easy.
