Tigers in six. Given what happened the Cardinals the last time they won a seven-game NLCS (they got swept by the Red Sox), Tony La Russa will need to manage quite a bit better if the Cardinals have a chance to win it all.

As happy as I am that the Cardinals won the pennant, I can't help but think they're going to get beat badly in the Series. They should win at least one game though.

Tigers in 5 (because we can't have 3 straight WS sweeps, can we?).

Tigers in Six.

As much as I hate to say it, the NL is still the AL's bitch.

Weather.com shows a very good chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday in Detroit, but not too cold (well not for game 1, pretty chilly for game 2). If either game is postponed, Monday would bring possible snow showers with a high of 36.

Cards in 6, but I'm from Detroit and I would never pick the Tigers because it would jinx them.

The Tigers should be favored. As a Cardinals fan, I have no illusions that they are the better team. I also thought the Padres and the Mets were better teams too.

I'm not going to get so uptight if the Cards don't win the World Series. The Tigers are looking unbeatable right now. And I think the Cards play better when they're not expected to win. Still, the lack of a Game 4 starter is disturbing.

I just thought the Cards had something to prove against the Mets.

Better luck this time, Nostradamus.

Congrats to Cards and Tigers fans.

As much as I was rooting against St. Louis, it was nice to see all the dejected Mets fans on TV.

Would love to see Detroit sweep but man, 3 years of utter AL domination? LaRussa losing 8 straight World Series games? Doesn't seem likely to happen.

dare to dream...

I'm betting on the Tigers. Not because I'm jumping on the bandwagon (I still can't believe that they managed to do this while making minimal roster changes), but because I believe the Cardinals are just not as good.

It's not going to be a great series for marketing, though. I'm sure that they would have preferred a New York vs. New York series over this, even if it would only have been big in New York. I don't see high ratings for this World Series outside of their two home markets.

Not as bad as ESPN's "experts" predictions.

Oh, sorry. I guess I should be one of those fans who blames TLR for everything.

Everyone's AL picks were horrible, since no one picked Detroit to make it to the ALCS. Sort of understandable, though. Even Detroit fans figured the Tigers would be lucky to win one game.

I think the Tigers take it, but people are dismissing the Cards too easily. This postseason, their pen has been great, the rotation has been much better and the offense has shown signs of life at times. I don't think they'll win the series, but I doubt it goes down in four.

Truth be told, Neyer's one of the best informed and intelligent baseball writers out there. I don't agree with his NL predictions, but I think the majority were right with him on his AL predictions.

In addition to his AL picks being consistent with many other "experts," he likely based his NL picks on how the Cardinals and Mets played near the end of the season, and the Mets losing Pedro Martinez.

None of them had the Cards making it to the NLCS either. Every one of them had both the Cards and the Tigers going out in the first round.

I know, I was just using a little sarcasm. I've been reading Neyer's columns since they first appeared on ESPN.com.
