2006-2007 NHL Regular Season Thread

I think that a separate thread is warranted since the NHL has officially started.

BTW, nice win by the Leafs against the Sens but I still think that they are a long shot to make the playoffs this year.

Fleury had a career game out there and Crosby looked good collecting 2 points.

It blows that Bourdon wasn't in the nucks line up.

GET CENTER ICE...well worth it.

15-year man DiPietro has a 9.00 GAA.

Glad the Sharks won last night, but they gave up too many goals for my liking. Allowing the equalizer with 5 seconds remaining hurt, but they regrouped for OT.

It was nice to see the Pens not get pushed around by the Flyers. Losing Primeau and Brashear takes away some of their toughness, and the Pens didn't even have Cairns or Orpik in the lineup. Good fight by Armstrong, too.

Nice debut for Havlat in a Blackhawks uniform last night.

Khabibulin looked decent, the defense in front of him was terrible.

The Leafs played an incredible game last night. Raycroft looked great, as did the rest of the team. Looks nice on those douschebag Senators.

Exciting game in Buffalo tonight with Afinogenov scoring a late tying goal and then the Sabres getting another shootout win

Up 4 - 2 with 4 min left, Habs should have won. They played great but the Sabres sure have a lot of firepower and never gave up. However I'd like to know what the hell happened just before Briere scored to make it 4 - 3. The ref stopped play for what seemed to be a penalty to the Sabres, the penalty box door was opened, the ref started arguing with Briere, this went on for at least a minute, even the commentators thought Briere was getting a minor penalty if not a misconduct, and then.... nothing! Resume play, face-off, Briere scores. Wtf?

LB: The ref stop play because of three things that were probably all related-the goal light behind the Habs net went on and stayed on for awhile, there was a loud buzzing noise that was coming from the speakers and finally our great piece of crap jumbotron had a power failure. (Hey Tommy G, invested in a freaking new state of the art jumbotron so we don't have these problems again-its probably the 10th time in the last year, our jumbotron has shut down. Also so we can see freaking replays, promos and hear the TV crew during intermissions.)

Briere was arguing with the refs as a minute or two earlier, Vanek was trip while on a breakaway and not only wasn't a penalty shot called but there was no penalty called either. And if Vanek wasn't trip then he should have been called for diving right? Vanek did go flying into the boards.

Definiately not a great night for the refs in Buffalo as they disallowed a clear Sabres goal in the first period due to a quick whistle. (Ref thought Hulet had the puck? LOL-the puck went right underneath Hulet. At least wait a second to see if/where the puck stops before blowing your whistle.) A pretty weak hold on I think Campbell in the third-then a nice dive by the Habs player mins later which sent Teppo to the box. That penalty kept a 5 on 3 PP going which Montreal scored on-making it 4-2. A few non "holding" calls that would have been pretty good tackles in the NFL, a weak elbow call on a Habs player that set up on 5 on 3 for the Sabres in the second. We suck on our 5 on 3 this year so far-so we didn't score.

Twice the refs stop play on delay penalty calls when the team with the penalty being called on them never touched the puck. (One for each team, the Sabres one was worse because the Habs guy who supposely touch it-had his stick in the air-against the boards-touching it with your skates doesn't count.) Terrible game by the two officials. (Pollack and Anger) I may be a homer, but I'm glad the Sabres tied it up with 14 seconds left-getting a point 14 seconds later when it went to overtime-(winning it in a shootout was a bonus) as a loss in regulation would have been "highway robbery".

LB...
Go Sabres! Two shootout wins! Bring on the Sens!

Thanks for the explanation. I agree that the refs in that game were absolutely horrible. Of course, I would have liked the Habs to win but the Sabres deserved to tie it up before the end of regulation. Overall, a very exciting game. Koivu had a brilliant game for a guy who almost lost an eye and still has vision problems (not mentionning beating cancer...). If Kovalev and Samsonov can get it going, the Habs will have a pretty good team. The Sabres of course, are loaded with talent. They do miss J.P. Dumont on the powerplay though.

I'm liking the new jersey and logo for Buffalo. I also like how they're going back to the original colors. Wish Vancouver would do that...

The Ducks new logo is just lame in my opinion. I liked the goaliemasked duck a lot better...

I was driving home from Chipotle. ESPN Radio was broadcasting the Rangers-Flyers game. They had just started the shootout. It took about 15 minutes to get home, and still no one had scored. 12 rounds of shootout, zero goals. I sat in the car for a couple more minutes, and the Rangers finally scored in the next try to win.

They went a combined 0-for-25 in the shootout before Marcel Hossa (NYR) finally scored.

Semin got a hat trick tonight. Time to unload his rookie cards.

Semin and Ovechkin have 6 of 7 goals for the Caps this season.

I really don't like those electronic screen ads in the boards in Phoenix. Very distracting, I can't believe they are allowed.
