Oakland Raiders vs Ohio State

The second worst team I've seen, the 1991 Colts, would have handily beaten the 'Canes or Huskies that year. But I'm confident that the Buckeyes would make this a game. They're better coached and better paid.

Anyone who votes for Ohio State is either joking or bloody ignorant. It's not even close. Oakland may be a piss-poor NFL team and Ohio State may be a great NCAA team, but put them on the same field and its a bloodbath. I put the line around Oakland -48.

I wouldn't go that far. I'd put the line at Oakland -24, bearing in mind that Oakland's starting QB is less talented than Ohio State's.

Most of OSU will never contribute in the NFL and some will never even get a chance to mak an NFL team. People like to be "clever" by comparing the worst NFL team to the best college team, but it isn't ever clever, and it wouldn't ever be close.

OSU has more heart than the Raiders. That would go a long way towards defeating them.

Maybe most of the OSU won't play in the NFL, but Art Shell and company wouldn't last a week at a big time D-1 program. Boosters would go ape shit if their team hired a guy off the street to be the offensive coordinator. The Raiders are the worst coached team ever by far.

I don't even think this year's OSU team could beat last years, and they only had about half of a team make the NFL. It wouldn't be close.

I agree.

Damn - the college season is only a month old too. Maybe one should wait until OSU is the national champs and Oakland is 0-16 before asking this question.

Those who actually voted for a college team to beat a pro team really need to justify that vote.

The worst NFL team is still a college all star team. The majority of the best players on the best college team will never even make the NFL, much less be starters.

Well stated. It's plain ignorance to think that a college team could beat a pro team.

mini-ditka could beat OSU.

This thread is retarded. Not only would the Raiders win by a great number of points, most of the OSU players would be so injured they might not be able to finish the game.

Oakland 42 Ohio State 10

And that's with Oakland being considerate at the end.

Well, it depends where they play.

In Columbus, OH: Raiders 38, Buckeyes 13
Anywhere else: Raiders 63, Buckeyes 7

Greece beat the United States at FIBA with no pros versus an actual all-star team in a sport where coaching and attitude isn't as important.

I actually thought that the poll would be reversed. Thank goodness.

Apples and oranges. For one thing, what the US NBAers play is not basketball. What Greeks play and what the international game involves is basketball. I don't think it has much to do with attitudes.

Plus basketball is a whole different game than football. A team can go cold shooting for the night. Plus it is 5 on 5 - one great player or one hot shooter can make a difference. Very different than an 11 on 11 game where brute force and physicality is just as important as speed and quickness.

They posed this question today on ESPN radio. I believe it was Chris Fowler that said MAYBE last years USC team could hang with Oakland. He said at least their offense. Which he did make a good point about most of the players on offense being a step away from starting in the NFL. Defense. Not so much.

NCAA football is about having more talent. Only the best get to go to the NFL. A NFL team is made up of said talent and it's all in one place. If you ask me the margin between the best and worst team is very very small. Coaching is more key in the NFL too.

I'd take Oakland and that line in a heartbeat.

Was there a Warren Sapp sized man trying to physically maul LeBron James as he attempted a jump shot? I guess, not, the comparison between football and basketball doesn't hold water.
