Why don't punters kick to the corners anymore?

I remember watching football as a kid and I was always amazed at the accuracy of punters hitting the coffin corner. It seems that the corner kick is all but gone...WHY???

any opinions??

The giants guy is MONEY for doing it (I think he is the all-time leader in the NFL for punts inside the 20 yd line).

Why nowdays?

That rarely happens and it is more likely that the opposing team gets conservative and ends up punting when they start inside their 10.

I don't know the stats, but from what I've seen there are probably just as many turnovers from teams starting inside the 20 (from a punt) vs. turnovers on punt returns inside the 20.

Yeah, that would be Jeff Feagles. I don't know why he isn't still playing in Philly. That always seemed like a perfect match, but the guy seems to go to a different team every 5 years. If they ever let a punter in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I think he should get in.

If there are fewer coffin corner kicks now than 15+ years ago it's because there are more 50+ yard field goal attempts.
