so I was traveling all day yesterday, stepped off a plane in boston, went to a pearl jam concert... didn't get to see the game.

Just eyeballing the boxscore from yesterday's Sox-Yankees game... did we learn anything other than the Big Unit and Clement are both overpaid douchebag pitchers?

Come on Royals! Show at least a shred of dignity today!

It seems like Detroit only plays Kansas City...

Am I wrong, or will Tampa Bay have been in a nationally televised game 2 weeks in a row with tonight's ESPN game?

It's really too bad that KC is crap and can only pull 10K. I went a few weeks back for my first time and that's actually a very nice yard to watch a game at. Or maybe I was just in the right mindset after the 3 hours spent worshipping to the George Brett statue in front.

Greg Maddux probably would never push for a trade, and publicly he will say he wants to stay and earn his money, but his no-trade clause doesn't mean the Cubs can't investigate. Former Cubs/Giants exec Ned Colletti is the GM in L.A., and he offered Maddux more money to sign with San Francisco than Maddux took to play for the Cubs. -- Daily Herald

In a few weeks, Cubs general manager Jim Hendry can begin a fire sale by putting several players on the trade market, including Juan Pierre and Jacque Jones, his regrettable offseason ideas. -- Chicago Sun-Times

Perhaps it was no coincidence that Manny Ramírez, following his tape-measure home runs last night, bolted out of the box, more concerned with running the bases than relishing in his exploits. Alex Rodriguez, during Red Sox batting practice yesterday, walked over to Ramírez, who the previous night lingered for an exceptionally long time in the batter's box after unloading on a Scott Proctor fastball for a three-run homer. One group of nearby witnesses said the exchange looked tense, and it's possible that A-Rod was relaying some advice to Ramírez. -- Boston Globe

According to several Fenway Park sources, Alex Rodriguez called Doug Mirabelli over late yesterday afternoon and challenged the Red Sox' backup catcher over what Mirabelli said about A-Rod's actions at the plate Tuesday night, when A-Rod homered but looked around for the ball as if he didn't know where it went. -- New York Post

Reds center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. decided to talk to the media again Wednesday -- largely to explain why he didn't talk to reporters Monday and Tuesday. Griffey said he's angry over suggestions made by sports-talk radio show callers that he should move from center field to left field or first base. -- Cincinnati Enquirer

So far, there is no sign that Tigers officials are pursuing a trade for a left-handed hitter. They have reasons to wait: The Tigers are in first place; more than two-thirds of the season remains; and they can see if Dmitri Young will rebound when he returns from the 15-day disabled list for a strained quadriceps. -- Detroit Free Press

He says he wants to stay with the Angels, yet with each successive start Kelvim Escobar, 30, could be pricing himself out of their budget. -- Riverside Press Enterprise

Kerry Wood may not make his scheduled start Sunday against Atlanta due to stiffness in his shoulder. Cubs manager Dusty Baker didn't know if Wood would be able to throw a bullpen session between starts. He skipped his session before Tuesday's start. -- Chicago Tribune

The Cardinals remain guardedly optimistic Chris Carpenter will not be sidelined for an extended period. Persistent stiffness below Carpenter's right shoulder caused manager Tony La Russa to scratch the NL Cy Young Award winner from a scheduled start against the Giants. Carpenter is suffering from inflammation of a bursa sac situated between the right shoulder and rib cage, according to the team's training staff. -- St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The Yankees are concerned enough about Jorge Posada's left leg to send him for an MRI today. GM Brian Cashman said yesterday there were no immediate plans to bring up a catcher from Columbus (Triple-A), where Wil Nieves and Koyie Hill are splitting time. Kelly Stinnett started for Posada last night. -- New York Post

Yankees pitcher Jaret Wright believes his tweaked right groin won't keep him from making his next start. However, manager Joe Torre wasn't as certain. -- New York Post

The Royals have received permission to interview Dayton Moore, a Braves official, in connection to the promise by owner David Glass to enact "significant changes" within the club's front office. The Star has learned from multiple sources that Glass spent Wednesday in Atlanta, presumably to discuss the possibility of hiring Moore to replace Allard Baird as the Royals' general manager and to spearhead an overhaul in the club's front office. -- Kansas City Star

With a left-hander on the mound, Dan Johnson was on the bench Wednesday, but despite his continued struggles, Johnson will be back in the lineup tonight, according to A's manager Ken Macha. Macha liked Johnson's extra batting practice Tuesday, as well as his results in a simulated game against Esteban Loaiza. -- San Francisco Chronicle

Orioles Manager Sam Perlozzo said that he is leaning toward starting reliever John Halama on Sunday instead of prized prospect Adam Loewen. -- Washington Post

Cole Hamels is back on the DL with his fourth different injury in three years, and Phillies officials now are publicly saying what they've privately said for months. They're worried about this kid's fragility. The best case, GM Pat Gillick said, has Hamels missing a couple of starts and returning to the rotation early next month. -- Philadelphia Inquirer

It wouldn't be surprising to see Tony Womack show up at Wrigley Field this weekend as the Cubs' starting second baseman against the Braves. -- Chicago Sun-Times

Vladimir Guerrero's remarkable run against the Rangers continued with a first-inning single, extending the right fielder's hitting streak against Texas to 42 games, the longest by a player against an opponent in at least 50 years. Guerrero is batting .440 with 14 home runs and 33 runs batted in against Texas, the highest career batting average for a player against an opponent since 1960. -- Los Angeles Times

With the Dodgers exploring whether to move their spring home to Arizona, officials in Florida are preparing to lure other teams to Dodgertown. Indian River County Administrator Joe Baird said Tuesday he had asked Grapefruit League officials about teams that might be receptive to moving to Vero Beach and said the county is considering whether to hire a recruiter to woo those teams should the Dodgers depart. -- Los Angeles Times

Haven't paid too much attention to baseball this season with the Suns still alive, what's up with the NL West having every team over .500?

Yeah, I thought it was funny that there were some trying to validate what Manny did by claiming Rodriguez did the same thing. I am far from Rodriguez's biggest fan but, unless it's cool to look like you're totally befuddled as to where the ball was hit, he didn't come close to posing at the plate like Manny did.
