Miami Dolphins sign Marcus Vick - Your thoughts?

ESPN Article
------------------------------------------
Looks like the Dolphins have taken a chance on Lil' Vick. But with the new addition of Culpepper and Harrington at QB, the article suggests that the Dolphins are looking to play him at wide receiver.

Looks like a possible Antwaan Randle El type player (sp on the name). Maybe a kickoff returner? That could be a nice combo with Culpepper, Vick, and a healthy (and successful) Brown. Be hard to pick up on the type of run they might do.

As far as charater goes, I do not believe this Vick has it. I think they are taking a big chance on Vick but time will tell. It may be the steal of the decade.

Eh, my thoughts are that I'm glad I'm not a Dolphins fan.

How are they taking a big chance? It is not like they drafted the kid in the 2nd round. He is an UDFA. The risk is minimal IMO.

No problem with it. In fact, happy that he got drafted by a team with 2 long time starting QBs on the roster so he can rot on the bench.

I think its fine having a new thread everyonce in a while for a major signing or what not. This is major as it's a controversial player.

I was glad it was posted as I hardly every read the NFL offseason thread, just not that interested in recent years with the Raiders sucking donkey balls.

If you live in the Miami area and have an underage daughter keep your eye on her.

He'll be the next Kordell "Slash" Stewart. QB/WR/RB/ an opposing player with a shank when the Refs aren't looking.

Seems like a solid move to me. They are probably going to be paying him peanuts, and I'm guessing he got a flimsy contract, where they can cut him at anytime without much concern. If he shapes up they may have landed a steal, if he doesn't, they lose nothing.

I think Kellen Winslow Winslow's contract is up at the end of this season or next they should sign him as well, you can have all the losers on the same team.

Who cares? I doubt he got a signing bonus so they don't owe him anything. If he makes the roster, he'll make the minimum. Risking nothing to potentially gain something.

I'm with Red Dog on this. They're taking a risk on something cheap tha could turn out into something great.

I'd do it if I were a GM.

No risk at all...If he doesnt pan out oh well, but he does have talent and if he can get his shit together, you never know. I doubt it but stranger things have happened.

Once (if) he gets a contract, he's going to be mixed up in the same shit as before...maybe worse. Some people never learn and I believe he's one of them.

Glad he's not with the Redskins

Kellen is an arrogant loudmouth, a lot different from Marcus Vick and Ricky Williams.

I disagree that there isn't a risk associated with Vick. The distraction he causes far outweighs whatever minimum salary he may be getting. The questions Sabien and co. will be handling about their possibly 4th string QB are going to be exponentially disproportional to his value. God forbid he actually does screw up badly again, it would be an enormous distraction.
