Penn State Football Is Back and the Networks Love It

ESPN pregame the largest ratings ever. The PSU/OSU game the 2nd highest rating ever on the ESPN:

ESPN Gets Huge Ratings for Penn State
10.11.2005, 03:45 PM

ESPN's pregame show before Penn State's upset of Ohio State last Saturday night drew a record audience, and the game itself was the second-most watched of any regular season matchup on the cable network.

The Nittany Lions' 17-10 victory averaged 4,435,000 households and a 4.9 rating. Only the Florida State-Miami game on Oct. 8, 1994 drew a bigger audience.

The College GameDay telecast from State College, Pa., on Saturday averaged 1,861,000 households and a 2.1 rating.
And the most watched College Football game in history? That would be those Nittany Lions when they waxed the Miami Hurricanes in the 1987 National Championship game...

he 1987 Fiesta Bowl, a national championship game between Penn State and Miami, earned a 25.1 television rating, making it the most-watched game in college football history. Such a rating translates into 21,940,000 households per minute.

The networks would love it if Toledo made a comeback....as long as it drew eyes.

This UofM team might be crappy by UofM standards, but they've only lost by a total of 13 points in 3 games.

GO BLUE.
