Argh, could've been such a good game last night. CC gives up 1 and we get the loss.

20,000 people showed up to watch the first and third place AL wild card teams duke it out. I hate Cleveland.

Never too early for some hot stove talk.

from Gammons premium content:

"If the Marlins do not make the playoffs, they will lose $20 million-$30 million, likely cannot get a ballpark built and will have to try to trade Carlos Delgado to the Mets before Omar Minaya, the Mets' GM, starts tinkering with acquiring Manny Ramirez. If the Mets continue to dive and Carlos Beltran gets booed right on into October, it will be interesting to see the Mets' response if and when the Red Sox reiterate the offer they made in July of Ramirez for Beltran. It would save New York close to $30 million. "

Am I the only one that has a hard time swallowing this.......?

I know. And it seems so wrong for the Sox on SO many levels. I guess there was some minor speculation onSoSH at the time, but it was pretty much dismissed as conjecture.

I read it yesterday, and believe me, this was one morning that I was really looking to grill El Jefe when we dropped the kids off at school this AM. I made a crack to him the other morning that my folks were looking to pick up a Manny game jersey for our 6 y/o, but were wondering if it would be obsolete in a month and a half; I got his standard "You never know" reply......

Go ahead and buy it - it can't be any more obsolete than that fucking Renteria jersey my wife bought me for my birthday last summer!!!

Stupid Devil Rays are 11-5 vs. the Yankees this season. Will NY finally be able to break the TB curse and maybe win 2 out of 3 in this series? Is that too much to ask against a last place team for craps sakes?!?

Of course Toronto has given Boston some problems this year as well. I'd like to see that continue. Toronto should have won last night.

Wow. How pathetic is it that Millwood is leading the AL with a 3.11 ERA, yet is still 7-11 because of lack of run support?

I don't think Boston would do it. Their offense would really suffer without one of the most consistent run-producers of the past decade.

Damn, Dan Wilson is retiring after the season. Yeah, he sucks now, but he's the last playing link to the '95 Mariners that saved baseball in Seattle.
