NFL Fantasy advice thread

didn't see one of these started up already.

okay so I am in a 12 team league. we have 2 WR slots and a WR/RB slot. I have these receivers currently:

A. Boldin
S. Smith
L. Coles
Mike Williams

A dude in my league is trying to get rid of TO. He has proposed to me TO for Laverneous Coles. Would you take the trade?

(BTW, I have 3 starting RB, so i can fill my RB/WR slot with a RB if need be).

I'll take the trade if I were you. No matter how much of a headache TO is off the field, you can't deny his talent on the field and he's much better than Coles.
Plus there's no way that he'll forfeit his salary by sitting out the entire season.

I would do this trade as well without any doubts.

The only downside is that you then have to pull for Terrell to do well in games. That would be hard for me to do.

Definitely do the trade. Coles wasn't that great when he was healthy, and I don't know if he's even that anymore.

I asked this once before, but I'll throw it out here. I can keep two of these RBs for next year: E. James, J. Jones, K. Jones, J. Lewis, S. Jackson, T. Bell. I can also keep whoever for potentially years, so if say Kevin Jones rips it up, I'll have him locked up for years. So which two would you take?

I'll definitely keep Kevin Jones. He really impressed me in the latter part of last season. For the other spot it will be a toss up between Julius Jones and Jamal Lewis.

that is what i was thinking about TO as well. I'm just hoping that i don't end up with a TO not playing, or not being productive, or having to guess what games he's going to play in etc.

i need a qb in a serious way. my current qbs are boller, bledsoe, and orton!

My advice would be to not draft before the third preseason game is over. But it appears too late for that.

Take TO.

Keep the Jonses.

moorehead: are there no available qbs out there for you? Wait, that is probably a stupid question considering the fact that you have Orton on your team. If you actually own Orton then you must be either in a 24 team league that starts one qb or a 12 team league that starts two. I would try and get a better qb for that trade.

Nope. The (marginal) upgrade to Pennington is not work Steve Smith. And McCareins is poop.

I was just made the treasurer of my league last night - any advice?

Are there any good sites where I can get fantasy info/rankings that are FREE that you guys would recommend? The sites I have used over the last few years are getting too expensive. Thanks.

You have to keep them for next year before this year even starts?

I have a different take than others. Who do you think are the best picks for this year? Probably Lewis and James, but that's your call. Well, my philosophy is unless one of those 2 looks like they're at the tail end of their careers, I'd still take them. You can always find the next up and comer when you need to, but why sacrifice the present for a potential future?

League treasurer?

Depositing and sending out checks is the easiest thing about being a commissioner.

Thing is, he's not really sacrificing the present by taking Kevin Jones and Julius Jones. Both of these guys can be as good if not better than Jamal Lewis this season.

They could be, but I think it is doubtful. I think Jamal is going to put up really big numbers this season.

The problem with Jamal isn't anything on the field. It is whether he can actually keep his life clean.

It's even easier - all of it is done through PayPal. I just had to set up a new account. And check w/ the transactions fees on our Sportsline website. I never even have to leave the computer.

thanks for the tip on fftoday.com - I'll check it out later today.

If I were in your league I'd be "T.O.ed" if that offer is even on the table. It's not even close. Coles had 1 touchdown last year. That's right, ONE. Granted that was with the Redskins and he's now with the Jets, but still. Coles (even on his upside) is nowhere near the talent/production of Owens. I know you were not the one who proposed the trade, but frankly that other guy is an idiot. Surely there is a better receiver he could get for Owens if he wants rid of him.

Than take them if you think they're the best picks for this year.

Like I said, the 1st question to ask is who would you take for this year. If neither of those 2 look like they're about to retire or severely decline, then I stick with those picks.
