With Scott Downs starting for the Blue Jays and Park for the Rangers, I predict that this is going to be a high scoring game. This is a huge contrast with yesterday game against the Angels, which was a pitching duel for 18 innings.

Should be interesting to see if Manny plays tonight. I think Im the only one in the country defending his decision not to play.

Maybe the Orioles will stop this from being the most depressing week of the season. I'm not optimistic.

I know I"m hoping he rides the bench a few more days..

Hopefully they can work a trade for the guy, since he's soo unhappy.

Doc Halladay fractured his leg on July 8th. He's scheduled to be back on the mound Tuesday. If he doesn't win the Cy Young, I think he should at least win the Superman award.

I can't argue with that.

The D-Backs called up Conor Jackson to play, didn't they? So why not play him? Sitting two days in a row doesn't make a ton of sense to me...

Playing him against Prior doesn't make much sense considering the R/R matchup.

He's playing tomorrow, for sure. Of course, the game isn't on local TV.

Figures that Prior would throw a gem today. Guy's stuff has been electric.

Not sure if this was mentioned before and in case you didn't see it in ESPN's Uni Watch, Manny was spotted wearing these during a game recently:

For those who don't know those are Oakley Thumps, with a built in MP3 player for those extra long innings in the outfield.

Congratulations Glaus. You might've just brought your AVG w/ RISP over .200 w/ that 2 run RBI single.

The reason I take Manny's side is because Wednesday was a good day for Manny to rest. Trot's injury shouldnt have anything to do with it. Trot's going to be out for months. Does Manny play every single day until he gets back? Or does he rest later against a good team? Manny has played more games in the field than anyone else on the team.

The Boston media is in full "Nomar mode". Never mind the fact that the Red Sox won, which proves they didnt need Manny to win against Tampa Bay and their shitty starting pitcher. And God forbid they jump on Trot Nixon and his recent shitty playing. But his hat is dirty, so he must be great.

They need to start not assigning certain losses to pitchers and give them to the manager. For the second time in 3 days dusty Baker has let his pithcer with 100+ pitches bat in the 7th, and than pitch in the 8th with a 1 run lead Both times they've given up the neccesary 2 runs to blow the game. What an ignorant asshole. To think I'll be putting up with this crap for at least another year and half. guh

From Dodgerblues.com:

While many Dodgers spent the first half of the season in the trainer's room, one Dodger apparently spent much of the first half in bedówith a local sportscaster. No, Olmedo Saenz isn't banging Kevin Kennedy. (Although if that was your guess, you're not all that far off.) According to sources (who will remain unnamed to protect their careers, their children, and their Billy Ashley autograph collections), the sportscaster for FSN was removed from her postgame interview duties after a Dodger wife contacted the network, upset that a girl with a mic (and a pretty good knowledge of baseball) was sleeping with her husband. Frankly, she should be more upset that her husband has a losing record, but it's really none of our business.

No. Brian Bruney allows the Cubs to win the game.

Why Bob Melvin continues to run Bruney out there time and time again is beyond me.

I have a feeling he just lost the closer's role to Jose Valverde, since he's been pitching lights out. Of course Lyon is coming back w/in the next 2 weeks, so Bruney just might've sealed his fate to the bullpen as the 4th or 5th guy.

Big win for the Cubs, making it possible for them to still (hopefully) take 3 of 4 in the series. Far too many close, late-inning games, but I suppose that is good down the stretch as they were not doing that earlier in the year.

That logic's kinda thin though. I mean most pitchers are righties, and Jackson can hit righties. They obviously didn't bring him up just to platoon for lefties. Sitting against Prior is okay since Prior's so gopod, but one at bat in two games? Mine as well called him up a few days later.

Ouch. Torri Hunter went up to make a catch and caught his spike in the wall. He's being carried off on a stretcher. Hope it's not as bad as it looks.
