Right Said Gabe didn't come back a moment too soon.

Boston Globe:

Terry Francona couldn't say definitively how long Trot Nixon's reliable bat and unparalleled intensity will be out of the Red Sox lineup, but a strained left oblique muscle is the kind of injury that can mean considerable time. A timetable of multiple weeks, perhaps a month, perhaps more, wasn't spoken, but it was implied.

Man, watching the highlights of the Sox in TB totally sucks. 24k fans and almost all of them are routing against the home team. MLB needs to get that team out of Tampa Bay ASAP. I can't imagine how much that must suck for the players.

Not to mention the fact that there is radio station in Tampa that broadcasts the Yankee games, not the Devil Rays games.

Story making the rounds (from Tito on WEEI) is that today was Manny's scheduled day off (even tho the Sox are off tomorrow), but Tito asked Manny to play today anyway due to Trot's injury. Manny demurred......

Boston now knows what it's like to have a clubhouse full of highly paid, self-centered all stars. They've become the Yankees!!!!

Selig rejects Kenny Rogers appeal and will serve the full 20 games.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2117962

He pitched last night and I would guess that he'll start the day his suspension is lifted meaning that he'll miss 3 starts and have his 4th postponed a day. Not good for the Rangers, but I'm not gonna complain.

2-1 Cubs after six. They put Burnitz on third with no out but couldn't score. Hollandsworth with a Klansman already.
