Is it too early to start adding Wild Card standings to this thread each day?

Ok Padres! Nevin and Loretta are back. Time to start scoring more than 1 measly run a game.

Padres are going to start running away with the division here in the next 2 weeks. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have a 7 or 8 game lead by then.

They're gonna need it. Padres can suck in a hooker-like fashion at times.

That's some pitching line by the d-rays starter, 4 runs, no outs, and the hook.

They were saying as a team the red sox avg against him was like 345 I believe. I guess so.

smoltz has been a friggin monster
with the shutouts, complete games, and constantly pitching late into games

smoltz has allowed 1 run through 8 today, and is going for his 7th straight win

Reyes gets an RBI single turned into a double with his speed in the second.
Then steals third. Then a balk is called and he scores..................
Then the call is reversed after a conference with the Padres manager and 3rd base umpire.

However, I thought (someone correct me if I'm wrong).... under MLB rules, you can NOT reverse a balk call, it's similar to arguing a ball/strike.

Anyone know why Kerry Wood was yanked after three innings--I mean, other than the 66 pitches and three solo HR allowed?

Radke w/ his second good outing in a row. But he still doesn't pick up the victory. because Joe Nathan did.

J-Rod and Pujols both have gone deep - the rookie's first career homer and A.P.'s 26th of the year.

Cards up 3-0 in the top of the fourth.

That sounds very familiar to me. I think you might be right on that. Definite grounds for appeal.

I was worried the Orioles might actually make a decent move and get AJ Burnett, but luckily they fuck up as usual. Oh how the Baltimore/DC area is just full of inept teams!

Did Burnett go somewhere yet, or did Baltimore just drop out of the hunt? Last I had heard, the BoSox were out of the running, leaving the O's, White Sox and potentially the Blue Jays.
