Also having the 3rd best NL starterpitching the first few innings against that AL lineup spells trouble for the Larussas.

I think LaRussa mentioned going 1 IP per pitcher.

Well, that debunked my theory. I thought maybe since the cards are running away with the division and vast favorites to get back to the series, he was going to go all out ot win.

And thus decided to start Carpenter so he could use him for 3 innings if he was effective, and not worry about pissing of other managers if he pitched say, Willis, for 2 or 3 innings.

and the Braves pitchers have to pitch 10 innings each.

And of coure you don't care who wins sense Atlanta won't be in the WS any way ,even if they did they'd lose

I agree. Regardless of Carpenter's latest phenominal run, Willis and Clemens both deserved to start over him.

WTF? Did she just cut off Ernie? Unless that baby you're carrying was placed there by a miracle, Jeanie, you don't cut off Ernie.

Why even have Harwell on there if they are just going to insult him by interrupting him. He talked about Kaline for about ten seconds.

Clemens got rocked in his All-Star start last year, why the fuck give it to him again?

And Dontrelle is a lefty - bring him in when you need him.

Um...because he has given up almost a full run less per 9 IP than every qualifying starting pitcher in baseball? He only has two things going against him - lack of wins and the lack of a redbird on his jersey. Not to take anything away from Carpenter, but he shouldn't be starting this game.

I'd have been fine with Willis, too.

Willis would have been a better choice 2 weeks ago. After getting shelled by Atlanta and Chicago, he carries a bit less sizzle.
