Who's in it? I assume Tejada is, so I'll be the homer and go with him.

It's an "international" HR derby this year. So they wanted as many guys from different places as possible.

This just might be the worst lineup ever.

Finals will be Teixeira vs. Jones, with Jones winning it.

Oh brother. Fucking Selig.

Do the international deal for the actual AS game; not this.

this lineup sucks
this idea sucks

although.. i originally heard they were going to have the contestants hitting from a stadium in their native country.. so all contestants would be in different parks.. with them being displayed on the bigscreen in detroit.
that would have been friggin stupid!

i guess all this is to try and hype up the mlb world cup idea even more

If they wanted to hype that, then play an actual real fucking game btwn Americans and Internationals. No we can't have that, because we must play an exhibition game btwn 2 leagues that are no longer really separate and distinct to decide home field for the championship in baseball. Bud is such a moran.

yea, i dont like that idea either
i can see the AL/NL seperation when it comes time to vote for the all star players..

but a US/NON US fan vote..

plenty of players get screwed as it is.. but that kindof vote would go over like a lead balloon.

The AS game is a joke as is.

not sure how else you would break down the vote
with all the problems with the all star game...
the al vs nl system is one of the few things i like.. and Im one of the ones that like it as a popularity contest.. while it sucks for some players to get screwed when they are having a great season.. the game is for the fans more than the players, and we should see who we want to see.

but requiring a player from every team is stupid.. and making sure everyone plays is dumb as well..

How else would you ensure that fans vote in an equal number of US and international players?

I'd like to see fan voting end period, but it will never happen.

I'm fine with the current all star game though. I'm not a purist. I love interleague play, I don't mind the all star gaming deciding home field. I'd rather it just go to the team with the best record. But this way is better than just alternating IMO as it at least gives an extra reason for me to watch the AS game.

Pretty simple. The way they vote in an equal number of AL and NL players. Put one list on one side of the ballot (1 per position/3-OF) and the other list on the other side.

And that's a US/Non-US fan vote. At least I think that was what was meant above. US/Non-Us player divider, just like AL/NL divide now.

I don't think he meant US fans vote for US players, people in other countries vote for non-us players.

That makes no sense.

Why would some one in mexico be able to vote for asian players, but not US players for instance.

I used to love it - because it was one of 2 times outside of spring training that you saw players from different leagues on the same field. If we didn't already have the craptastic interleague play, I would not advocate going away from AL v NL.
