Well they certainly nailed the O's public enemy. Prior to that, it was probably Willie Stargell.

I knew Denkinger would be the Cardinal PE#1.

I would have figured the Pirates would have been Francisco Cabrera or whomever was on the mound for them at that time.

If the 3-month old Nats have a public enemy, it is either A) Peter Angelos or B) Comcast.

I still think Nats fans aren't quite up to speed on these things. Peter Angelos and Comcast are far more tangible targets for wrath. Angelos for trying to block the move and Comcast for not carrying MASN.

As a Giants fan, public enemy #1 is a tie between Dusty Baker and Scott Spiezio.

As a Braves fan, the top of my bitch list is Livan Hernandez because of that absurdly-wide strike zone he got in the 1997 NLCS. The detail that makes the incident go from simply infuriating to hate-worthy was when the camera cut to Livan in the dugout and he was laughing and doing the chop. Everyone knew the strikezone was b.s., yet he was still gloating about his fabulous achievement. If I could throw a "strike" out of reach of any bat, I could pitch a pretty good game, too.

But Livan Hernandez does not get to call balls or strikes.

When I started reading the article, I could really think of anyone. Sure, Liebrandt and Rocker came to mind, but neither of them quite fits. Reading further, they couldn't be more right. Jrk.

As a Yankee fan what I hate most of all are annoying Red Sock fans and then Pedro, with his little friend in tow.

Don't mistake me. Living in Connecticut some of my closest friends and family are red sox fans, it's the idiots that take things too far that get on my nerves as I'm sure you have experienced with some surly Yankees fans.

So you're saying my irrational hatred is less-than-rational? My problem isn't that he got the absurd calls, as much as that he gloried in them. I live near D.C. and root for the Nationals, but not when he pitches. I'll always hate him.

And you just made #2, pal.

Pittsburgh Pirates: Derek Bell. For a two-year, $10 million contract, the Pirates got a .173 batting average, 13 RBI and this spring-training quote: "Nobody told me I was in competition. If there is competition, somebody better let me know. If there is competition, they better eliminate me out of the race and go ahead and do what they're going to do with me. I ain't never hit in spring training and I never will. If it ain't settled with me out there, then they can trade me. I ain't going out there to hurt myself in spring training battling for a job. If it is (a competition), then I'm going into Operation Shutdown. Tell them exactly what I said. I haven't competed for a job since 1991."

WHy Livan and not Eric Gregg who ultimately dished out the wide zone for Livan?

Gregg is on the list, too. I loved it when he was one of the handful of umps not rehired by MLB after the mass resignation. But, Livan is higher because many still give him credit for a great game (that led to a WS title) while Gregg is consistently beaten down for his strike zone.
